I see no reason why not. In Skyrim, your character has a set role in the world, and in history. But the story is still your own. It's not impossible to provide some background while still permitting full creativity of what one does.

Runescape is not Skyrim.

I'd personally prefer our backstory stay anonymous. I don't like to feel restricted by player character backstory. Sure, it'd be nice to have a general outline of how we got to that specific location (as Oblivion and Skyrim mention you were doing something illegal and got arrested), but there's no need to explore an otherwise mouldable character's birth, family, etc etc.

I was actually a bit disgruntled by the Falador herald and Lunar Diplomacy trying to tell me about my heiritage.

Also: the mentions to a grandmother or aunt could just be an expression.
The uncle one is probably referencing out Uncle Sam...

How bada$$ is the player character?

In terms of single combat, you can max out the Duelist Cap and Wilderness Cap.
Granted, in game, some players just trade kills (you kill me 20 times free, I kill you 20)

In terms of combat experience:
- how many small to large scale battles take place in quests alone?
- Soul Wars is a battlefield
- If you go for Trimmed Comp, how many battles of Castle Wars would you need to survive
- Pest control is an eternal was against the pests
- Barbarian Assault in and of itself is a battle against waves of Pennance
- World Event 1 (assuming you took part)
- World Event 2 (again, assume you took part)
- World Event 3 (again, assume you took part)

This isn't even taking into consideration slayer, pvm, training ...

Once you start adding up all of the PVM and PVP scenarios ... the player char ... especially if you earn a Quest Point or even Comp or Trimmed Comp ... would be 1 of the most battle hardened individuals on the planet.

In The Light Within, if you fall asleep during Coeden's story, one of the dreams you could have is about getting overwhelmed by adventuring school exams. Part of it says "...none of this makes any sense! You've been an adventurer for years, and even then you didn't go to school to learn how to do it." That's the part where your character realizes they're dreaming.. and that the teachers are bats..

So, this could be assumed anyway, but the Adventurer didn't go to adventuring school! Also, because the quest is in the Sixth Age, we already know we've been adventuring for at least two years, but it's further solidified now.

This is kind of pointless, yes, but it's something..

Well, it does prove the World Guardian learned how to adventure by themselves. That's something, yes. Also, the dialogue does confirm the World Guardian has been an adventurer for years, but we already knew that: we just now have even more evidence to back it up. However, the way the dialogue is worded implies that "years" is an unspecified period of time, implying the Adventurer might've had been adventuring for longer than just years 169 of 5th Age and 1 of 6th Age (after all, wouldn't a person be a little bit more specific about the flow of time if they've been an adventurer for just two years?), which kind of goes against what is already established: however, it might be the "years" indeed referred to two years, not three or five.

I think it was mentioned a while back (on the duel cards I think) that the Balance Elemental exists in multiple dimensions at once. This is definitely wild speculation, but it could be possible that the Balance Elemental exists outside of time, and could be telling the player character about the future because it has already seen what happens. Both The Light Within and Heart of Stone (both worked on by Mod Raven, I hear) indicate our characters snore. And that the snoring is *horrible*. Since this has come up in two quests now, I guess it's a fairly established fact of our character?

I don't need Jagex to write my story for me, I already got one in mind, and plenty of other players have their own backstories in mind, each of them unique. Jagex can't write a single story to satisfy all of us. That's ******* impossible.
