I follow Saradomin, Zaros, Apmeken, Scabaras, Elidinis, Icthlarin, Armadyl, Seren, V7 and Guthix because I've helped them or their followers in quests, and I don't follow Zamorak, Bandos and Amascut because most of their followers or they themselves are my enemy. But then this applies to every player, so I should say something else.

I follow Armadyl because he has a good philosophy.

Unlike Seren he does not want to hide in a hole and let the world crash, he wants to fight for a better world where everyone, gods and mortals, can live in peace and struggle through the daily trials. Plus he's pretty nice in person as well.

Also he doesn't want to rule and be the "one god" like Saradomin, he wants to be a guide for his followers.

I'm with the Godless.
I don't like gods (or ... ahem ... ascended mortals? ... no sure what the politically correct term is these days).
Sure a few like V and Armadyl and Seren and Guthix were wonderful individuals and all, and personality types I could get along with.
But I believe in us, mortals. The kind of power that most gods have worries me (you've seen what trouble Amascut can do, and she's low tier) and no one should have that kind of power.

Plus, some of us are big game hunters. And those gods can grow to be quite big.

Now where did I leave that God Slaying Harpoon again?

I follow Armadyl because of his goals.

I was stuck between him and the Godless for a while, but I decided against the Godless because they want to oppose every god (or at least a vast majority of them, including Armadyl) even though they may not pose a threat to anyone and indeed serve in the better interest of their people.

Armadyl wants a coalition of 'good' gods, and all the bad ones to get kicked out. While that may sound wishy washy, after reading the previous posts its obvious that there are some gods who do help their followers (Seren, Zaros, the Menaphites) and some who violently attack others and add the destruction of this world. The former shouldn't be kicked out for doing no wrong, and the latter deserve to be punished proportionally.

That, and personally, I'd rather put power in a person who is hesitant to use it, rather than one who immediately abuses it. I'm not worried about Armadyl stomping on a city or setting a town on fire.
"We call it being a hero"
"That's interesting, we call it utter stupidity"

Zamorak
I feel that he would benefit me the most, help me grow stronger. I like to relate Zamorak to a coach on a sports team making you fight even though you are in pain and exhausted. One of the main reasons I choose him over the rest is because he doesn't see you as someone who is inferior. He knows you have true potential. You know he will fight for you and his people given evidence from when he liberated the demons.

I am Godless.

The so called "gods" are pretenders. They are neither omniscient nor omnipotent, and can be killed.

They seek to impose their ideologies on mortals, from their invasion in the Second Age, to their potentially destructive war in the Sixth Age.

Only the Godless can create a civilization based on not what works for Mahjarrat, or demons, or Icyene, but on what works for beings born and raised in the relative peace of the Fifth Age.

I don't see myself as following Sliske, no... I see us as being two equals in a part of Guthix' game.

Like two sides of a coin, Sliske and the World Guardian need each other. They both have a portion of Guthix' power, thus making them linked together. A shadow needs the light to survive, and the light always finds ways to create more shadows.

I was originally a follower of Guthix, which makes many people confused as why I would follow his murderer in the aftermath of his death. It's simple, and pretty clear. Guthix gave up his life to set these events into motion, and wanted both Sliske and the WG to be a part of it. Sliske thinks that his "Game" for the SoJ was his idea, but I believe that Guthix saw this and saw it to be a way to truly defeat the Gods. But he needed a WG to help do this. So he willingly gave up his life, and power, to both of us.

And both Sliske and the WG have followed through pretty nicely since Guthix' death. Two Gods are dead (Bandos and Tuska) and one God has been decreased in power (Zamorak). As the 6th age goes on, more Gods will die, and we will be completing the plans Guthix put into place long, long ago.

Sliske and the Player aren't just two pieces to Guthix' puzzle though, we are literally his living and breathing Edicts. The Edicts 2.0

I'm not sure how reading others reason(s) for picking their faction will help you, but I'll just comply.

I 'follow' Sliske. I don't worship him, nor do I agree with everything he does, to me that's perfectly fine for anyone in any faction. You can maintain some sense of individuality within whatever faction you choose.

So... onto my reasons:

- First and foremost I love like Sliske, but I don't like any of the gods or the godless quite how much and why I like Sliske. So already I've got a little push to go to team Sliske.

- I've got fewer commitments. Following a god, at least some degree of adherence is required; specifically to their beliefs. Sliske doesn't preach a set of rules to be followed, so there isn't anything to adhere to.

- I identify with Sliske. No, I don't murder people, but I am rather problematic. I won't go into specific details, just all you need to know is that I can see some of myself reflected in Sliske's character and sympathize with him at times.

- Another point is that I'm intrigued by the relationship between the player and Sliske. I know this doesn't warrant 'following' him, but I think it deserves some mention. The 'balancing' act created by the two, how both have some power of Guthix and how they wield it differently...

Not sure if any of this helped you, but hey, I delivered.

Edit: Megical's post pretty well sums up my last point, as well as clarifying a bit on why I don't follow Sliske; I see him and the player as equals.

I follow Zamorak because I believe that he's the best choice for Gielinor. I respect him and share many of his values. A strong work ethic, ambition, and an appetite for freedom are all traits that I consider to be important.

Strength through chaos is a motto that I can get behind. I believe that anyone, no matter their current status, has the potential to do great things. Chaos and adversity often serve as the spark for such greatness. No matter where you are in life, things can and will get better if you're willing to put in the effort. And while it is important for everyone to strive to become capable individuals, it is also essential that people be able to unite when needed in order to overcome the difficulties placed in their path.

Oppression, famine, disease, physical injury, emotional turmoil - they're inevitable, but they don't have to be the weight that drag you down. Instead, use them as tools to raise yourself up and emerge better than before.
The strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack.
