I see these as players responsibilities. Players are responsible for the security of their account, always has been and always will be. In the beginning there was just your account name and pass-word. Then Jagex added JAG as a gesture of goodwill.

What a very poor approach of security: "it's not my problem, it's yours". Security is only as strong as the weakest link. If one of the links believe it's not its problem, then probably this is where the security chain will break.

Ah, one of your better ideas, Jagex. This is giving us all extraordinary protection of our accounts, and should be mandatory.

This is obviously not serious. Authenticator has to be one of the dumbest moves on Jagex's part. I can't access the Companion App properly, and now I have to use my phone to protect my account? Yeah, because I always have access to my phone...
There there is the issue with a LOT of players not having a smartphone they can use. Smartphones are expensive. At least keep the JAG up and running, it's already a very good option for most people.

The "Authenticator" is a great idea, but what will happen to the old/young people who don't have a phone?

I myself had to buy a phone just for the App since my phone's too out of date.
Trimmed
and just trying to get better at pvm'ing in the game without having to 4taa magic/range or 5taa melee anytype of pvm to be invited into kills.

So in a summary this app can see, what apps I use, what I do and look at when I'm on the web and my history (everything I ever looked at in the past)!!! It can view my calendar (so it knows what I plan to do in the future) , And it can view all my contacts, it can access my storage, and it can access my microphone to record me when I'm not aware of it, ect ect.

I and many other people don't install apps that ask for unnecessary information, And I'm surprised that Jagex wants us to give away personal information to a unknown source in order to have our accounts protected on their game! This is disturbing.

And trying to use other methods of the Authenticator is a big hassle for people who don't want it and new player that just join RS. Thought I would say that so Dark Jam*i won't post something like he has been posting lol.

+1 to the guy who posted the above quote! He is very smart!

Come on, Jagex! Not all people have smartphones or the ability to use more than one computer at a time! If you truly love your players, then you will NOT get rid of JAG.

Three reasons why I refuse to use the Authenticator...

1: Because unlike JAG, it's protection is limited to 30 days at a time.
2: Some people do not have smart phones or are not-so-tech-savvy.
3: ***ex, you didn't allow your loyal players to vote on this at all!

I will keep on reposting this message until you listen, JAGEX!!
You peer into a Chapel of Zamorak, which appears to be abandoned. Before you can close the doors again, a Revenant Chaos-Bringer flies at you and slays you instantly with a bolt of Shadow Lightning. Oh dear! You are dead!

I notice the amount of posts has slowed down a bit, hopefully because it's the middle of the week and the people who have read this have seen their opinion expressed so feel that now all they need to do is wait for answers.
Well Mr. Jagex, this is us waiting...

As I have kept up with this thread since it's inception, I think I am entitled to say I have a pretty good idea of the direction most of the posts go in. Just for politeness' sake, I will say that in the least, the majority of players feel JAG should remain in place and the Authenticator added as an optional/additional security measure dependant on the choice and/or tech capability of the individual user.
Choice is good...

Now, the next question is, are you going to give us a definitive answer? Or do you intend to ignore us and go ahead and force people to add third party apps they neither want or feel they need? There are those of us, ( call us the paranoid majority) that feel that raising the level of security for a game at the expense of the security of the entire rest of our lives ,( meaning allowing unknown sources access to our virtual lives) is not a good trade off. And if you just do the research, you will see that there might be some good reasons fo us to feel this way. Not to mention the fact that by allowing a third party to be responsible for our security completley muddies the waters of responsibility in reguards to who ends up with poop on their shoes when the blame starts being handed out.
Up to this point 90% of your players have willingly accepted responsibility, or lack there of, for their own account security. You constantly tell us NOT to trust others with our pass words or allow others access to our accounts, and now you are forcing us to pretty much give complete control of said accounts to an outside source. Our ability to access this game will depend entirely on the performance of these apps and their controlling concerns. - continued-
