this'll happen, people complaining wont change anything. Jagex doesn't care if you can or can't afford a phone, all they care is they can put advertising on it to make more money. JAG is far from secure, anyone who can hack into your email can access your Runescape account.

I'll be one of many who go without any type of account protection once JAG is gone. I'm not going to install their stupid authenticator as they continue to make RS a WoW clone. Anyone wants my account can go right for it, pay the $5 sub fee, and steal everything I have including the character. Jagex doesn't care about their players, only about their profits.

It's not a matter of saving it, it's a matter of having it on the PC at any time point. If the PC is compromised, a second is enough (yes, even if only loaded into the RAM). And as for "the cloud"... need I really say how insecure this is?

The same way having to memorize stuff is a weakness: it's an annoyance to some users. You don't want users to be annoyed by your security, or they won't use it. Also, I just don't install Big Brother Google stuff on my PC, thank you very much:

this is crap, i want the jag back, now i have to use my phone for every login i make!! this is noncense! why to use your phone to login -.- not everyone has the compactible phone to do this... chance some things so we can login normally without in need of all those stupid things -.- i dont want to use my phone for logging in into a game!

There is no way I will use this. I have a smartphone and could, but this isn't something I will be using. Last time I tried to do something with an authenticator it was a hassle and didn't work in the end. Even if this somehow worked better and seamlessly I wouldn't. I don't want a security measure that I have to constantly play with and periodically renew even if it is once a month. I didn't like Jag, but at least once you set it up, you were done with it. The thing I don't get is why implement something that needs a smartphone when not everybody has one or other means to use this? Good idea!

The thing I don't get is why you don't read the forums. Instead you probably read the first post and then start replying........it has been known for days now that a phone is not needed.

Howdie Jagexians,

I will try once again to be brief (cough)…

First up I read that (we the consumers) if we (buy) a U S B drive we can forego the phone stuff… correct?

Second if I’m correct the issue of the (timers) not being in sync is eliminated since the U S B drive is working with your computer timer... correct?

If a jagex person could verify this it might help everyone.

Now, the person below had something I'd like to discuss...

The alternative is to not shut down the JAG.

Because making account protection only available to smart phone owners is foolish.

Since (we the people who don't have a smart/smarter phone) have to buy a new item (U S B Drive) you could improve your bottom line by selling this before shutting down (J A G). I have no knowledge of this item/game but it does sound like a practical solution to everyone’s (almost) complaints.

I hope this input has been useful and I hope I get a response soon =)
