I indeed read that some people DON'T WANT to do this, I don't see the need to reply to these as it is their decision not to install account security. When it is on a USB stick it aint on your PC........so I think it is just people trying to find something so they can ***** about it.

Now please explain to me how placing everything on a single PC (new Authenticator used on the same PC as the RS account) is more secure than placing everything on a single PC (old JAG).
Now that we've established that both are similarly secure, we can move on to see that both have different weaknesses. In the first case, you need to install yet another freaking piece of software. In the second case, you need to memorize (or write down) a series of "secret" answers to a bunch of questions. Please understand that some people may prefer one option over the other. Congratulations, now you know why it's better to keep both systems instead of only either of them!

You don't save the authenticator to the PC, but to a USB stick or the cloud. When done you remove the USB stick and only put it back when you need to authenticate, either every time you log in, or 30 days.

Also, as a weakness you say you need to install another freaking piece of software......how is this a weakness?

I found a forum link using winauth and have managed to get it running, but many haven't been successful, and not because they are stupid which seems to be what you are implying (correct me if I am wrong)

What is needed is that JAG remains in place at least until this is sorted, and hopefully after as an additional security measure.
It won't stay after as one of the reasons why they get rid of it is because a lot of people forget their security question answers. Which creates a lot of work for the CST.

WTF it doesnt work for me i cant log in because the code is not correct i failed 3 times to make google authenticater on . so i have 3 codes on me phone they arent correct also . i hope somebody can help because i love rs plz help . and i tryed to send an e mail to me registraded acc bad that email i forgot so help me plz . THX

Hello , my oldschool account is banned since the update and they said it would tould took less then 1 day. It was the 23th of june and now it's already 25th of june.. can u please check it out for me. :D Btw my olddschool name is noeii.

Even though I've never used JAG, except for a few months, I do agree this is a terrible move. There are still many people who do not own smart phones but want to keep their accounts protected and the only way to do that is with JAG. Surely you can do something like add email address support or make it available through text message at least, seeing as how even I don't use my phone for anything but messaging and calling. It would be easier for the people with basic phones, and the email would be a lot more easier for those who can't even afford a phone. If you have a computer and you play RuneScape and you have an email address, it can be a very simple task, but unless/until this is a thing, it's either time to upgrade your phone or buy one for hundreds of dollars or don't protect your account at all. What a very smart move this time, Jagex.

make sure you have the correct time set.

each code only lasts for 30 seconds, so using a code that is nearly expired will probably fail.

i just wasted 5 hours in the past 2 days trying to activate it for my account, always failed !!
i have a nokia n9, which isnt supporting android or iphone software.
