I, Kateri (formerly Kateri690), ask that you do not remove the forums.
My reasons are as follows:
1. Players under a certain age may not have Twitter or X
2. Some players do not want to create accounts on said social media, or separate accounts on these social media places, to have a separation between their real lives and their gaming identities
3. As many players have said, it is easier to organize ideas and feedback on a platform such as this whereas the other platforms simply don’t offer this ability.
4. Certain threads see a lot of activity, but perhaps not as much posting such as the Penguin Hunting thread, and the discontinued items threads. Perhaps I can’t afford that partyhat today but it’s nice seeing players who can having banter and discussions about price negotiations! Also given that these are items that likely aren’t bought and sold everyday it’s still a good way to connect buyers and sellers.
5. Nostalgia. Stop trying to pretend you are a brand new, ultra modern game! You have a past, you have a history. Maybe younger players would be fine without the forums, but you do have a large number of active players with 10+ year old accounts who PREFER forums as a means of community engagement over other alternatives.
Thank you for taking the time to read my arguments and while I’m not hopeful, I will say I’ve appreciated my time here in past and present. It is true I’m not as active or engaged as I used to be. But I’m also not a hopeful young person anymore either. I wish I could say that the removal of the forums didn’t make me feel as an older player that I’m being told my time and experience has less value than the newer generation of players, but it does. I don’t think I’m alone in this either. So way to go for that Jagex, thanks.
