I agree that the forum needs some QoL improvements. I'd like to add improvements to how the forum handles login status. On other sites if you have multiple tabs open it'd be as simple as logging in on one and refreshing the others to be logged in on all tabs. Here I've found that any page where you're seen as logged out stays that way and you have to reopen those tabs from the one you logged into in order to fix that. You also frequently get redirected to the login screen when your session expires and risk losing posts to that if you aren't careful. Since forum pages often involve a lot of idle time, some improvements to how login sessions refreshes and expiration is handled would make for a smoother experience.

I've added your improvements to the OP, thanks

-Make logins propagate among all opened tabs
-Remove login screen redirections, leave us logged in longer, someone coming onto our computer and posting on the forums is NOT a security issue since the "Account status" page has an extra login prompt anyway

The RSOF is like a bicycle.

All other social media platforms, for better or for worse, is like an automobile.

Which would you rather use as a mode of transportation?

------------------

Let's be honest here. The forums are dead. Done. Deserted.

Jagex have, in their infinite wisdom, decided that Reddit and the various other platforms are the method(s) used to communicate with its player base.

Look at the Keywords "CM Mods" - they quietly vanished. It would appear their contracts were not renewed.

One of these days we'll go to load the forums, only to get a "404" error.

I sympathize with a lot of what you’re saying here. Here’s my perspective:

Taking some effort to return to previous discussions, rather than being passively alerted to them, isn’t a bad thing. It means that we’re making a conscious decision about what’s important and what’s not. While this may seem annoying and inconvenient, it’s actually a blessing in disguise, as it incentivizes quality over quantity.

Without being able to reliably screen someone’s motives or ability to contribute, making it easy for any active user to join a group is actually counterproductive. I don’t think anyone would want their private discussions hijacked, nor would we want public ones torpedoed simply due to people wanting to participate but lacking sufficient understanding of the topic. Having some level of inconvenience serves as a natural filter, and this helps keep a system healthy.

The account profile as it is now is almost useless in terms of forum navigation. In addition to the suggestions already made it'd be nice to be able to sort thread history in a number of ways like the ones you made, the ones you didn't but posted in, order of activity, etc. Right now I think they're ordered either by date of creation or date you first posted in regardless of which one was actually the most recently active. It makes catching up on threads after a long absence really annoying. A filter for locked threads would also be helpful.

Another way of improving the profile is making it more informative about the listed threads. It currently lists when you last posted in a thread but not the last time anyone has posted in it if it's not you, how many posts have been made since you last participated in the thread, the number of posts and pages in the thread, etc. All you really get from it is info on when you last posted and general idea of your forum activity and that's pretty much it.
