So once ppl get these "rewards" you speak of, the forums will just go back to how they are now.
I agree with Draco here. Not that I don't see where you're coming from by offering in-game incentives, but I also feel it would be abused until everyone who wanted it had it, then things would go right back to pre-incentive numbers. Maybe a few would stick around... there's no way to put a guarantee on either outcome, but still.
How could Jagex increase the desirability of the forums without abandoning the other platforms? I think it would take more than just some pretty, shiny new features that are already in place on the platforms that are already in use by the community. That's not to say the forums couldn't stand to see these updates implemented, but still - I don't think updates alone are going to bring masses back. Even if they did abandon all other platforms and go back to forum-exclusive participation, would that even work or would it just cause resentment amongst the segments of the community on those other platforms?
My optimistic brain wants to believe something can be done to bring the forums back a bit, but my realistic brain has me thinking I'm holding on to nostalgia. It seems the community has moved on and Jagex made the business decision to move with it. I don't have to agree with it, but I also do understand it. I also can't say we've been forgotten about as there are JMod posts on the forums from time to time, but the truth is that the forums as a platform just do not dominate like they used to in terms of use by the community compared to the other platforms.

It's Jagex's fault, their decision. Instead of using social media, they could have used it where Jmod posts ONLY direct back to forum posts.
I'd like a message box that let messages live there no longer than a month. Tick box for "friend only" for high level players, ofc, to curb spammy messages begging quest help or whatever.
I think j mods using any of that is a super bad idea. They risk jobs to do that. All we ever risk is like... typing in game privileges for a couple days. They are best off continuing to reply, generally, to things in forums, as news or blog posts.
so yes kind support. I want less dependence on discord, reddit, twitter, etc for sure.

oh. you can't get much ground naming this "mandatory" though. its like you're "demanding" and thats actually in TOS/EULA as a thing you can't do. you can request it. colour it necessary, essential, needed, wanted, etc; but avoid versions of mandate in yer diction.

I agree that the forum needs some QoL improvements. I'd like to add improvements to how the forum handles login status. On other sites if you have multiple tabs open it'd be as simple as logging in on one and refreshing the others to be logged in on all tabs. Here I've found that any page where you're seen as logged out stays that way and you have to reopen those tabs from the one you logged into in order to fix that. You also frequently get redirected to the login screen when your session expires and risk losing posts to that if you aren't careful. Since forum pages often involve a lot of idle time, some improvements to how login sessions refreshes and expiration is handled would make for a smoother experience.
