How is any of that in the first post persuading most of the playerbase that only uses Discord, X, and Reddit? They're still going to use those places (since they're not RS-exclusive), and "maybe" the RS forums with the improvements. And as gross as those places are in-general, there's still valuable RS feedback found in those places. RS needs future game updates, and they presumably want fresh ideas. The fresh ideas are found in abundance in those 3 places, not from forum veterans with years of RS experience and baggage; but even that kind of feedback is plentiful in those 3 places.
Also, who is doing these changes? Who is motivated enough to revamp the forum software, vs using those other places? And why is such a motivated person not working for or getting employed by Jagex? I can write off a list of improvements too, have experience with different forum software and could probably do it,
but I don't have the motivation to do it
unless I being paid handsomely, and even then it's not going to overtake those other 3 places so why would Jagex do that when they've already made the decision? Revamping and hosting the forums has a financial cost with seemingly limited benefit.
Edit: Hey Jagex, hire me and I'll learn whatever is needed to integrate RS accounts with standardized forum software (IPB, myBB, phpBB, etc). Discord, X, and Reddit are too disappointing to me and RS deserves better!
I use the forums fine today, and would
probably
use them with the changes too. I'm not directly against revamping the forum software, but I'm sure Jagex isn't getting persuaded by the few forum users that want it to stay. I only came out the woodwork after seeing the notice on the launcher.
Does any other major MMORPG operate without their own discussion forum?
