If the forums could be updated to read your ignore list and hide any threads or posts authored by someone on that list, it would be a pretty elegant solution. It's not necessary and probably preferred to not change the placeholder text for hidden threads/posts, but perhaps also modify the placeholder text to read "This thread has been hidden by your ignore list" or "The contents of this message have been hidden by your ignore list".

So if I was to forum block anyone, which I'm never likely to do, what's to stop anyone else quoting the said blocked person? It means I'd still see the posts.

Blocking is fine in theory but in practice very hard to implement.

Blocking is fine in theory but in practice very hard to implement. Yeah, that'd be the difficult bit. Then again, if someone quoted a player the "old fashioned way" by just copying and pasting text into the post, then there's nothing you can do.

I'd say if someone quoted, let it stay because you might need that quote for context of their reponse. If the quote is directed abuse to the ignored user, it could still be reported to Forum Help with the quote ID.

Support. This would not only help enforce the Jagex code of conduct suggestion "If you spot a thread where you disagree with the poster's opinion, rather than argue with them across multiple pages of their thread consider creating a new thread with your own opinion."

but also help keep threads more tidy, stop harassment and trolling, and reduce the need for moderator intervention.

Please do this, Jagex. Please. My motto is to be nice if I can, but also to not suffer trolls.
