just ignore them dude
Exactly.
Why ppl cant do something this simple is beyond me.
I mean pplo do it all the time IRL yet when it comes to the net ppl seem to lose all ability to.
Perfect example of "baiting", which I've been talking about. Ironic this person had to follow this thread and post multitudes of times with the same personal opinion repetitively, as if it's the end-all-be-all and JAGeX is obligated as is everyone else to adhere to his dictate. No shaming here - just a prime example.

Just let us block certain users from seeing our posts - at all.
I don't want these farkwads posting on my threads. AT ALL.
Their opinions aren't valid nor useful, AT ALL.
Also ironic AF is these guys are saying "ignore them" - which is EXACTLY what I'm proposing a means of doing! LMFAO!
I want opinions, I'll go ask people who aren't total assholes and can communicate.
Thanks.

So if I was to forum block anyone, which I'm never likely to do, what's to stop anyone else quoting the said blocked person? It means I'd still see the posts.
Blocking is fine in theory but in practice very hard to implement.
Yeah, that'd be the difficult bit. Then again, if someone quoted a player the "old fashioned way" by just copying and pasting text into the post, then there's nothing you can do.
I'd say if someone quoted, let it stay because you might need that quote for context of their reponse. If the quote is directed abuse to the ignored user, it could still be reported to Forum Help with the quote ID.
Not really. Farcebook blocks quoted texts too when you block an OP.
But that's not what I'm suggesting at all anyway.
This would restrict the users from even seeing ANY of your threads.
I think people are overly complicating this or over-simplifying it.
But ignoring people is easy in reality - unless they're stalkers; trust me - that's why law enforcement exists - because some people can't handle being ignored. They're mentally ill. I feel that could be what's spilling onto forums everywhere and of course does - but players go to their threads to read everything, but not just to read the same output of "trolls", over and over - wasting time. Threads are forced data right in front of the end-user, and it's like being forced to read their trash just to get to somebody else's input. It's a waste of time, and those people are a waste of space.

The problem with "just ignore them" is that they literally eat up threads and threads become an absolute mess.
I firmly believe that's one of their goals - to make people's threads unusable and pointless. To be the loudest in the room, until other people give up and stop using the forums altogether.
Giving the people who start a thread the ability to block trolls from turning their threads into a complete mess would absolutely be a good feature to add.
If they actually have something meaningful to say rather than starting a flame war they can go make their own threads and troll all they want there.

I disagree, Lnk. There's a few asshats out there that I'd be very happy to never see their posts ever again due to most of their posts being trash or deliberate bait to another poster. The only thing they are 'passionate' about is being a nasty bastard.
So much agree with ALL of that!
The point is to segregate them, as they do it to themselves.
I'd say give everyone a personal forum block list of about 20 usernames, max.
Probably even 10 would suffice.
Whilst on your blocklist, these players are incapable of seeing your threads, less post on them.
