^That works for a your view only block feature.

Blocking other users posting, well you can see how well that works on reddit. Not good at all for new users.

Forgot this one:

runescape.com#?#article.thread-plate:-abp-has(> a > div > p:-abp contains(/^created.by.DUDE$/) )

Replace DUDE with whoever you want no more of their threads. Enjoy.

No, I rarely use reddit, so I don't know "how well" it works.
What's that have to do with anything?
If I don't want to have certain users mucking up my threads, clearly it's for preventing ANY potential interaction they'd have on my thread.
I wouldn't have to read it, nor anyone else in my subject.
They're free to post elsewhere.
What's that have to do with "new users"? LOL.
Who cares, because at that point, clearly you've had enough of somebody you're already familiar with, they aren't "new".

Reddit if your karma (point system for the website) drops too low your posts are auto hidden. If you go negative they are not displayed at all.
Basically your ability to use the site would be dimished as you'd be rendered a ghost.

My point is the whole system of one person can control who is worthy of posting has been done in other place in the past with disasterous results. Reddit one will probably retain the ability to post for 1 month as a new user before you are rendered unable to post due to low karma, if you dissent with the horde too often.

Many sites under the sun have a basic ignore feature. Which you can sorta do atm with ublock origin and the things I provided. Being able to restrict others posting ability is just censoring which will be so abused as it currently is on reddit for new users.

What you are asking for is not a simple user side my view only block, it is a 0 dissent in all threads button which is frankly ridiculous and will be abused.

Exactly.

Just because you dislike someone doesnt mean you should have the ability to control if they can/cant post at all.

That power should be left to the mods but of course only for rule breakers.

If they did add a block feature, i'm sure any troll your talking about would probably make another account or already has more than 1

I hate reddits karma system, i had to create 20+ fake accounts with email gens just to bypass the low karma count post restriction, plus to age accounts incase of bans, so far still on account 1 lmao. Yes i most likely broke their TOS but they also broke mine ;) -freedom of speech-

------------------------------------

does that ublock also work for sites to remove those "i see you using adblocker"? i manually bypass those atm

So much agree with ALL of that!
The point is to segregate them, as they do it to themselves.
I'd say give everyone a personal forum block list of about 20 usernames, max.
Probably even 10 would suffice.
Whilst on your blocklist, these players are incapable of seeing your threads, less post on them.

Yeah honestly the only reason I can personally see for opposing a block feature on the forums is being upset that the ability to troll other people's threads would be taken away. It can be couched in other terms like "just ignore them" or "it'll ruin the forums" until doomsday but when you get right down to it that's what it's about.

I'd rather put my time and energy into playing the game instead of haunting the forums solely to ruin other people's threads for "fun."

Seriously, how are threads with one - two users who aren't the creator of it filling up multiple pages of it with opinion screeds helpful to anyone?

It gives the forums and Jagex a bad name.
My motto is to be nice if I can, but also to not suffer trolls.

Of course, this has nothing to do with opposing views. I can understand those just fine. But when players purposely harass you, and spam just to insult and belittle your perspective - basically just whining like an infant and trying to act faux superior as if their opinion is the only one that matters - and it's on EVERYONE else's threads (not just my own), then they need to be somehow ostracized. They're not even attempting to make the community better in any way, nor share any valid point. It's harassment and bullying, pure and simple.

THIS.

Just let us block certain users from seeing our posts - at all.
I don't want these farkwads posting on my threads. AT ALL.
Their opinions aren't valid nor useful, AT ALL.

Also ironic AF is these guys are saying "ignore them" - which is EXACTLY what I'm proposing a means of doing! LMFAO!

I want opinions, I'll go ask people who aren't total assholes and can communicate.
Thanks.

Saying "just ignore them" to users whose threads these trolls have been absolutely destroying is kind of the online version of saying "just ignore them" IRL to someone who has had strangers come into their house and trashed their kitchen.

We don't go looking for stuff to get irritated about, these trolls are coming into OUR THREADS and pulling this crap. And we should, as the creators of those threads, have the ability to block them from interacting with OUR THREADS.
My motto is to be nice if I can, but also to not suffer trolls.
