We don't go looking for stuff to get irritated about, these trolls are coming into OUR THREADS and pulling this crap. And we should, as the creators of those threads, have the ability to block them from interacting with OUR THREADS.

It's what Forum Moderators are for. ^_^

If someone is coming to troll, you can flag their post .

Yeah, except I already tried that, and the forum mods and J-mod sided with the trolls.

This is another useless piece of advice. If it worked, we wouldn't need a block function, wouldn't even be asking for it, and someone wouldn't have had to come up with a browser-side add-on to (partially) address it (it doesn't actually keep the trolls from destroying threads, just keeps their posts from being displayed in your browser) but alas...

The forums have basically become a wild wild west-free for all. The trolls have figured out how to keep their toes just inside the line while wreaking havoc in other people's threads, inciting flame wars and the like. It's message board power jockeying and Jagex has allowed it, which means we've gotten to the point where we need the power to control our threads in our own hands because we can't count on Jagex to moderate the forums correctly. That's why we're asking for the block function.

And honestly, if twitter can institute a block function successfully, then so can Jagex in the forums.
My motto is to be nice if I can, but also to not suffer trolls.

.

If the posts(s) didnt get hidden, then clearly they arent breaking any rules.

It seems more so like a personal grudge against the player and that shouldnt be a reason to hide ppl's posts.

Saying "just ignore them" to users whose threads these trolls have been absolutely destroying is kind of the online version of saying "just ignore them" IRL to someone who has had strangers come into their house and trashed their kitchen.

We don't go looking for stuff to get irritated about, these trolls are coming into OUR THREADS and pulling this crap. And we should, as the creators of those threads, have the ability to block them from interacting with OUR THREADS.

TFW they arent your threads .

You dont own them and are just posting them on Jagex's forum.

So if anything they belong to Jagex and if they want this to happen they can as they have every right to.

Matchgirl... I remember you from six years ago.

Nice to see that you haven't changed one bit.

J-Mods will never side with trolls. They side with whoever followed the forum rules. If your posts were hidden, or if your thread was locked because of your own posts , then is the issue here really about forum trolls, or is it about you unable to admit to your own misdeeds?

Except I'm not the only one noting that Jagex sides with the trolls and "moderators often won't remove bait post/s." There's an entire thread where someone, because Jagex won't do anything about the trolls, made a browser-side add-on to filter out forums posts of said trolls so that they won't display in the browser (but does jack to keep them from destroying threads) (qfc 278-279-13-66139123)

It's not a personal grudge, it's not wanting to have to deal with trolls/people who insist on being dicks, which is a rampant problem in the forums.

It's not "can't handle ppl disagreeing," it's not wanting to have to deal with trolls/people who insist on being dicks.

It's not "creating an echo chamber," it's not wanting to have to deal with trolls/people who insist on being dicks.

It seems like y'all are heavily invested in being able to forcefully interact with people who don't want to interact with those who insist on routinely breaking Wil Wheaton's "don't be a dick" rule which, hey, not surprised in the least. At least y'all are consistent, I'll give you that.

So you're admitting that Jagex is content with trolls running rampant in the forums/want that to happen?

Hrmmmm.

And yeah, this is semantics. If you have to argue on a technicality, then your argument is weak sauce.

Right back at you, Southeaster. You're on my in-game ignore list for a very good reason.

And the mods do side with trolls. All. The. Time.

Like I already noted, the trolls have figured out how to wreak havoc in other people's threads while keeping their toes just inside the line. And I'm not the only one who's noticed or commented on this. And that's not even getting into the incidences where I've personally witnessed trolls break the forum rules, and the mods still side with them.

If you believe the forum moderators aren't doing their job properly to hide troll posts, then you should report it to the forum moderation review thread where a Jmod will review the actions (or inactions) of forum moderators. °l||l° Modest Skillers T7 Citadel | Skilling clan recruiting players. °l||l°
