I just tried to get in from the lobby, I am still logged into the lobby, I can access chat, I just can't get back into the game. I exited to the lobby to check on dinner, then I tried to get back in and the message too many log in attempts. How can I have a log in attempt when I am already in the lobby?

See if restarting the client and attempting to join a different world works. :)

same thing is happening to me, unable to login. you would think a several hundred million dollar corporation could figure this out. But what do you expect from a spaghetti code company. too bad my account has several hundred bonded days of membership, big mistake doing that by me.

Acounts are being "jammed"

If your
USERNAME
is known, people can have a bot that sends
WRONG
passwords to your username and it makes it so you are permanently locked out of your account due to "to many login attempts." You can bi-pass the login servers by logging into mobile/steam but then you are left without any client except regular OSRS.

The reason Jagex has not fixed this is because that is how there account protection is INTENDED to work. So, people cannot create bots to guess your password. However, there should be the ability to change your login name. (its an easy fix!)

Also, you may be able to login to your account after an update, because the people sending wrong passwords have to reset the bot every game-update.

This is one of the two variants of this issue.

The other variant is related to the ISP, and the way they route their traffic to the core Internet.

Jagex are aware of the issue, and have a long term project to overhaul the security system to stop this happening. It will take a long time though, so in the meantime we have to use the workarounds (such as using Steam).

It's by no means an easy fix. The login name ties account information together across multiple Jagex systems, so it is not just a matter of changing the login name in one place. Changing the login name is a long, error prone manual process, and if it goes wrong your account is lost. For this reason, Jagex very rarely do this.

They already gave special circumstances to streamers (woox and zezima) to change there usernames, so it can't be hard to let the minimal people impacted by this (and they can verify that ur account is actually being spammed) fairly easily. It really should not be this hard to do it for the minimal people impacted.

If they can do it for streamers, they can do it for us.

I already explained this, see my earlier post.

I'm pretty sure Zezima declined the offer to change the login name, probably due to the risks involved.

The over whelming majority of players have a work around available, which a far better option than the risky process of changing the login name.
