The decision not to implement more mobile-friendly forums was of a piece with the deliberate neglect of the forums over the past few years.
Over the last decade and a half, Jagex have consistently refused to consider updating the forums, or replacing them with a more modern forum system (even an off-the-shelf one). Now, having done the absolute minimum (in order to discourage people from being here, i.e. effectively driving them away), they claim to be "following the players" to other places!!!!!
The public statements by Jagex about the end of the forums are disingenuous to say the least, and could be said to be deliberately misleading at worst.

I wonder how much it costed for them to maintain this place. The fact that Jmods basically left this place to die was a red flag for me since last year, it was only a matter of time as they didn't seem committed to modernize this place.
I think it's a mistake to nuke your own community forum & relying on other social media platforms to hosts these conversations.
