There are times extra-ordinary bumping is needed to be done to deliberately push lock threads down towards page 2 faster. Though this time, there is not enough relevant active threads from page 2 to supply the first page of W&F. There is nothing special here, just a regular housekeeping stuff.
This is the most 'creepy/indecent/behind-ones-back' move you do make as a moderator to make forums shinier so Jagex will not jump on your neck asking how things got so bad over time.

The moment you are bumping someone else's thread another player is hinted that you, being the OP, are present looking forward to new/different/more feedback.
It also gives the impression that there are more players present in a forum, although the counter suggests otherwise.
Another issue is, that you create a situation that a player persistently likes to be on page 1 of a forum but it isn't actually the OP him-/herself bumping a said thread.

For the record, you were the only person who reacted to it, in fact you publicly reacted violently against it. Then you went ahead and asked for a thread locked, then changed your mind a day later.

There is no controversy over the bumping action, it is part of the housekeeping process especially in a slower subforum like W&F. Fmods have the universal bump button in our toolset for the longest time for such housekeeping purposes. We push valid threads (fyi good threads only, so I defined your thread as good) up to push down a series of locked threads, so we can have a page 1 that looks presentable.

If you will continue to publicly argue about this, you ask Mod Kari in FMR. There is a presumption of regularity with the use of the tool, it is the least tool in our arsenal that has harmful effect against anyone here in RSOF. I did not need to explain this in page 9, but did it out of courtesy. But instead of understanding, you went violent.

@Louiellen, I had experienced similar situations in the past and rubbing my eyes I couldn't believe what was happening because I always was too late to actually see that happening.

Now I caught the perpetrator in the act. It was you.

I don't care where you hide that "we are doing housekeeping" act but 99,999999% of The RuneScape Community do not know about that, so don't blame the messenger. :P

I can/will give my opinion about how I do experience such "housekeeping", like it or not, and don't give me that face "go to FMR".
Your tool stinks and to me, it feels like rigging statistics or a forums' looks for that matter.
I explained to you how I felt, after that hideous-bump, so case closed. :)

...

Players are allowed to post feedback about their experience and you can't prevent me from doing that nor can you suppress my point of view.

You had not caught me, I presented myself as the one who did the bumping. Go back to page 9, when I explained this earlier.

The correct thing for you to do is to go to FMR to ask for a Jmod intervention. What happened was a regular, non-controversial action. We have this universal bump button for purposes of housekeeping RSOF. If you wish, you can also go to Forum Help and confirm with the rest of the team that such modding action is a regular action.

There is no controversy over it, you just overreacted to it violently instead of following the correct reporting protocol, the FMR.

Edit: Tron, an observant person can easily interpret that as a statement of confirmation. The person just needs to read between the lines. It was still not acceptable to use verbal attacks to complain about a modding action, we have an FMR protocol for a reason. Your bump button is yours, all moderators of RSOF have the universal bump button, it is a public knowledge for the longest time. It is a minor tool designed for housekeeping purposes, such as pushing series of lock threads down in favor of good threads getting page 1 space of the forum. This will be the last time I'll reply about this non-issue, as you refuse to follow the FMR protocol to begin with.

This thread has gone well beyond the scope it was intended to now with discussing this Bump and that feature.

If you'd like to discuss the nature of the Bump feature and its use by FMods, by all means begin a thread discussing that, but this is definitely not the intended topic of this thread.

As Tuffty has stated, I think the original purpose of this thread is something that's a very good discussion topic, and I'd rather not see this thread thrown off the rails.

If this thread is to continue forward, let's please bring it back around to the original intent.

As I've said, if the Bump feature is another facet of the forums you'd like to discuss, please start a separate thread for that.

Thanks!

You still havent shown any evidence that this problem exists.
Apart from your own misplaced thread (285-286-117-66171802).
Your dismissal of the fact that it was clearly misplaced is a nothing but a bunch of disingenuous nonsense:

I'll explain what went wrong with me ... and occasionally went wrong in the past ... being dutch/dutch citizen we have a "more direct way of expressing ourselves" not beating around the bush nor posting a lot of hugs & kisses which made me more than once end up in Rants not because that's my intension but more or less our hard/direct way of discussing things. Nor was it my intension to purposely misplace a thread.
Bullshit.
Rants: "Focus more on the problem, not the solution here"
Not only do you not provide or even mention a solution in that thread, it is thread so incoherent that its hard to tell what its about and you have refused to clarify despite numerous direct questions.
'Not beating around the bush' is ironic for a thread that refuses to state at any point what its actually about.
It is 100% Rants, well - assuming that we allow threads that ramble on inanely about "Lifes not fair".
There is nothing about this thread AT ALL which makes it fit for General and you know it.
The tagline for General, in case you have forgotten is "For any RuneScape topic not covered by the other forums".

If you really didnt understand that you misplaced it, you are not in a position to lecture other forum veterans on where to place threads.
This is like the myth of a guy that murders both parents and then throws himself on the mercy of the court because he's an orphan.
Cant you see how unbelievably hypocritical your position is?
No-one is fooled by your desperate attempts to change the subject.
This is the subject.

If other veteran-created thread are misplaced in General - where are they?
There arent any and you know it.
