Something needs to be done about either the rules or a few select forum moderators. This place is ran with an iron fist and Jagex just allows it to go on. 10 people are logged into the forums right now which is absolutely pathetic. Nobody wants to post here when they can go to Discord, Twitter, Leddit, /rsg/, etc. and avoid being censored. And why the hell are threads being locked for stupid reasons when there are posts on page 50 that are two years old. It's absolutely absurd.

Hello

The forums have simple Code Of Conduct and the forum mods simply make sure they are being followed. I don't understand how the forums mods killed the forums.

The use of forums is an old way of communicating with a community. Reddit twitter etc are just way more popular, so really those social media sites have killed the forums not the mods. They just want the forums to thrive as much as we do.

Go to the Item Discussion forum right now. Two threads on the front page locked.

1 for Grave bumping. Like I said in the OP. Who fucking cares when there are threads on page 50 that are 2 years old. At least there's some kind of discussion going on and if someone were to search through the forums they could read the thread further if more discussion happened. But of course a mod thinks it needs shut down.

Another shut down for "fearmongering." a mod think's it's tehir responsibility say what is true or not. An absolute joke and also having a really hard time fitting this one somewhere in the rules of the CoC.

I'm sure this thread will be locked as well.

If you want to question forum moderator actions, the Forum Moderation Review thread is the place to do it.

Creating a thread here is not going to help you in any way.

If you think the forums are run by an iron fist, then you know nothing. The current rules here are 100x more relaxed than they were a decade ago. You got muted for simply saying Windows or Google, simple stuff like that.

As for the complaint, Archaeox gave you the response - Forum Moderation Review thread, if you disagree with the actions of an FMod, or multiple FMods. This gives you direct contact with Community Management at Jagex who can deal with the complain. Making a thread here does nothing because the actions of an FMod cannot be discussed, nor overturned by another FMod... the only way things can possibly change, is with Jagex dealing with it.

If that's the case, then the thread title is kind of misleading? FMods did not ruin the forums. They are following the rules set out by Jagex. This threads title should really explain rule changes then...

And in my personal opinion, before rules are changed, the forum itself needs to be updated with more features and functionality. One of which is the removal of that annoying spoiler tag when posting an image or video.

As for rules, the only ones I can think of that should be changed, is allowing the most posts forum game back, so people can unlock the higher forum badges, since the Web Team set the unlocks impossibly high...

Like I said. Go to the Item discussion forum and look at my examples. Neither of those locked threads are breaking forum rules. They are locked because those two specific mods think they should be locked. These are just two small examples of the over moderation the forums have gone under over the past few years. This thread is not to advocate for those threads to be unlocked btw, just examples.

And yes the forums desperately need updated. No reason anyone should have to upload an image to Imgur just to post it here.
