I am SO happy somebody made a thread like this.
And very similarly to what's already been mentioned in this thread, it's not
just
the FMods that are doing it. It's also the LMods too.
And you know what? This happens
all the time
. It's a repetitive theme. It's like the FMods gets told something, get hit over the head with a brick, fall into a coma, come back and forget what the
actual
rules are. It seems they conveniently forget the foundations of the current rule set which have BARELY been changed since implemented by Mod Balance's Community Management team.
This includes:
NO GRAVEBUMPING RULE - yet they're still enforcing it on a dead forum as a means to suit whatever it is they want locked
Closing threads that get derailed, as opposed to dealing specifically with those who derail threads when the topic of a thread is not illegitimate.
Taking things personally, e.g. this thread. I can already see elements of that already but funnily enough its not even the FMods that have done it just yet... You can try to criticise the way that enforcement takes place, yet they will take that as them personally being criticised (ie an attack).
Now let's be clear, it is not
all
of them. However, there is no doubt here that the spirit behind the current ruleset is being overridden by FMods. It's funny how the ruleset has barely remained unchanged since Mod Balance implemented it, yet you can nip around the corner somewhere and see a thread being locked for some reason that isn't even specifically listed there. This "erring on the side of locking" judgement was something specifically addressed by Mod Balance's team as something that is
not allowed to happen
anymore, yet now you'll see an FMod or an LMod doing exactly the opposite of the spirit of the ruleset.
Moderators are
not
supposed to enforce what isn't in the ruleset. It is specifically supposed to be added in - that's what Balance tried implementing.
