Okay here's what I've been playing around with, RS-Linkify Version 3.0.7.0 is needed.
This is my attempt at a lightbox. Keep in mind it's not finished, but I need test it and run it before I do any more on it. There are limitations such as it wont work with spoilers, and thumbnails....yet.
- Clicking an image will pop otut the pic and resize it as best I can to your browser window.
- A single click on the new image will close it.
- Scrollwheel will zoom in and out at the cursor position.
- Clicking and dragging (only when zoomed in) will pan the image.
Remember update RS Linkify to Version 3.0.7.0 to see the lightbox.
Here's a test image complements of Rowley

Feel free post some test images and try it out. I have already found very tall narrow images don't work too well. But that's just how it is when fitting an image to screen and keeping aspect ratio. Fortunately right clicking and opening in a new tab is always an option.

Animation is a bit too slow, but nice work so far
Yeah Blasty mentioned that too, the transition takes 1.25 seconds, well it does on my computer. I'll set it under .5 seconds when I do my next update later
Edit: Okay I just sped it up, I agree it's better. Updating it now, might take 30 min or so before it's live.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with Reddit (and RES), but with RES there's a 'spoiler' button for images, and it works like this:

You can drag the image to make it bigger/smaller at will, is there any chance you could create a similar system for images (or images under spoiler tags) on the HLF?

Would it be possible for it to work with image embedding off?
Yep, sorry I didn't explain well, to me that comes under spoilers cos that's basically what that setting is. I will be covering all settings. But for now I'm still writing it and it's best for test it with a single feature rather than tie it into everything. When I have made all my modifications and tweaks, and improvements I'll tie it into everything

Hmm, I think when you click outside the image as well as on the image, it should close the lightbox
I was unsure about that, but yep I can change that
Oh new version is up with faster transition, thanks Morgan and Blasty

Can you keep the ability to middle mouse button a picture into a new tab? Or is there a way to get that back
I'm not sure, the browser wants to do the scroll via mouse move when I center click on an image, I'm uncertain of I can override that.
The option to open in new tab can be done via right clicking.
I will be making the lightbox optional so those who don't want it wont be forced into using it, that means clicking the image will open in new tab like it always has.
Edit: Okay I see, previously the image was a link that's why middle clicking did that. I will look into it and see what I can do
Edit 2: I worked it out, I'll restore that middle click in an update later today
