Interesting perspective Big Storms. I will say that since I'm an achievement oriented type of person so end goals and results matter to me more. I gain the pleasure and enjoyment for reaching goals/recomping more than just casual play.

This does not mean that I put RS over other obligations and responsibilities in life. In fact, I have taken my time with the Invention skill this year instead of rushing it. (Invention was released on Jan 25th this year, and instead of finishing it in early/mid March, I took my time and obtained 120 Invention near the end of May). I will do the same with future comp reqs and other things when life gets busy though.

Thanks for your advice nevertheless. :)

Thanks for the thread, really put perspective into my life. Uni is starting again and I don't have the obscene amount of free time I once had during the summer break which I spent recomping after 1.5 years of no RS3. Got 120invention, Reaper title down, learnt to tlv5 vorago, learnt all the Raids roles, killed spider up to 300 enrage, maintained the clan magazine, introduced Raids as a clan event as well as made 2 invention guides on YouTube which garnered more than 2k views. Everything was just grind and addiction. I wasn't even efficient and took the long way for most. First Yakamaru kill took me 15+ hours on a full learner team but it felt so good when we got it together. But we all got better over time. Together we knocked out 3 of the 5 Yakamaru feats yesterday which was some of the most fun I've had in years of RS.

But deep down only 2 things mattered. Taking care of my clanmates, try my best to help them achieve maximum satisfaction, encouraging them to try new things as well as voice chatting and having a good time with friends at Raids. I want to get my life back on track and stop wasting time on rubbish like getting the dragon head during the lunar new year mtx event. It took a whole 2 months to Recomp. And it's not getting any easier as well. When life starts again I think I'll just stick to resetting wednesdays, doing 2 Raids on Friday and once on Sunday. Might do ports, maw and maybe an hour of spider if I have the time every day. That's the most I think I could cut it to. If anyone has advice it will be nice to share :)

Thinking about all of lifes responsibilities really makes me reminisce the days when I was still in elementary/middle school when I was able to play day after day. Did I gain 7m exp in that full day of scaping? Not even close. I messed around in castle wars, or went into fight caves with full rune and a D scim and hardly got to the rangers. I remember training construction by walking from Falador bank to the portal in Rimmington. I sucked at this game and I miss it.

When I felt like I had all the time in the world, there was no need for efficiency. Barely any thought went into training skills, I just kinda did stuff.

Unfortunately it's just not feasible to play that way today with lifes responsibilities, plus becoming a lot more wise with the game after so many years, it's hard to not play with some form of efficiency. Not saying I never just hang out or play a few minigames here or there, but i'm not running any planks straight from the sawmill anymore :)
Ever wonder why ice cubes taste so boring?

Same Vesaris, I grew up with RS from high school to college and now to graduate school. There are times where I played much less, but still played, and during the school breaks like winter and summer, I often no life the game, I got agility, hunter, construction, fire-making, thieving, and fletching the longer way. Do I feel that my achievements back in 2007-2008 were devalued nowadays due to many updates that made them cheaper and easier to train?

Yes but I don't really mind that much because the game has progressed tremendously. Also back in the days, weapons and gear were expensive, I wasn't an PvM'er nor did much combat in general, so I was just happy that almost all gear (barring Telos because he is still relatively recent in the game) is more than affordable for the casual Scaper. :)

I left for half a year and idk what was added in that time apart from some major things, I have given up on keeping up and I don't plan on setting any big goals. I just casually log in to chat with friends and grind a bit here and there. Doing things outside of the game ultimately is more fun anyway (imo) :P I have never been a huge grinder anyway though. I maxed coming up to 4 years ago now and I still only have 1.1b xp.
