Why does it have to connect to other skills? Dungeoneering didn't. It used all other skills. But was actually its own game. In my book, it was the best skill because it had variety and forced players to actually work together. It however did show how bad we were as a community. Doing dungeons was awesome fun with the proper group. It is an MMO not a single player game. Which is ironman.

It doesn't have to, but it's billed a gathering skill, and you do gather stuff primarily. Dg you aren't focusing on gathering stuff, you're focused on completing a dungeon.

You do need to gather stuff to complete the dungeon. You need to unlock doors. Sometimes unlocking the doors required gathering of materials. Yes I know that concept later got nerfed by toolbelt options and other crap. Also, I kind of liked the concept that in order to be good with combat, you needed skills.

I know it's not important but it definitely was it's own game. I think we can all remember doing nothing but Dungeoneering for weeks/months and then having to adjust to the regular game when diving back into it. Most importantly what I liked about Dungeoneering was how actions were queu'd. You could create runes, make a runestone and click the door and then wait for the game to do all those actions. In the main game, those things would cancel out.
It was a great endgame skill and in my opinion we never needed any skills after that. Having Dungeoneering provide us with what used to be the best weapons, Chaotics, was just awesome too. I certainly wouldn't have opposed of a Chaotic hatchet/pickaxe or other tools to help us with the rest of the skills in the main game besides combat.
Why don't you just play Ironman mode /s?
Obviously, you won't be able to be rank 1... but YOU can probably easily grind out 5.6b xp and be ready for the next skill. Therefore, money factor doesn't really matter if that's a big deal to you.
I like drumgun, and brings up some valid points,
still preety miffed that jagex thought its okay, to not allow perked augmented mattocks to be combined to create time and space, I know their are other items out their that you can pick the gizmos you want when combining, or replacing.. jagex make questionable decisions.
I guess the spirit of rs died when the gower brothers left
