I feel a bit sad while writing this. I was lvl 63 Arch, fully invested / prepared in it (1m+ chins, porters, bought D mattock early etc.). Haven't slept yet and if you know me, then you know that I could easily keep that up for another few days without sleep, then do some 4h sleep days and then rinse/repeat for however long a skill takes to train to 200m xp. So getting rank 1 isn't the problem per say.
The thing that I have a problem with is that by analyzing the entire concept of this skill, one thing becomes very clear: Jagex have sold out. As soon as I realized this, I sold all of said items and that was it. I refuse to suffer for Jagex's mistakes any longer, which players who love the game have to pay the price for. So what are the 2 key factors which make me feel this way?
1) The RNG-ness of the skill, in particular the huge xp boost which the "Completed Tome" item gives to people who keep getting it.
2) It's a gathering skill but not only is it buyable, you need a HUGE amount of money to upkeep the boost items bought with Chronotes, which add another considerable xp/h boost to training it.
Omid mentioned that "Chronotes being buyable is 1 of the things I dislike about this skill the most" and that is exactly the thing which breaks this skill, as it did invention. Why is the skill designed like this and how is Jagex punishing the "real" players by this? Because the RS3 Economy is completely F'd. It's F'd with money generated through non legit methods / bots / TH. So it looks like the plan is to add a crazy gp/xp gimmick to upkeep until 200m to every skill that they will release ever since invention, because they need to create huge money sinks.
