I only just heard you posted here, anyways... We were going so well, gaining that XP at Everlight. I guess the difference is that I don't care about rank 1, I enjoy the skill and I'm sorry for getting those tomes with you around me...
The amount of tomes and their RNG is really annoying lol. My partner has had 44 tomes since the release (no, she's not been camping tetracompasses which guarantee them), and as of this morning, I've only had 11... She is level 100 and I'm 99. It's quite annoying tbh.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.
I reckon that, broadly speaking, there are two main types of player; those high flyers to whom rank (and the speed of getting there) are paramount and those who .... are not especially bothered by that.
Personally I am entirely unconcerned and unimpressed by ranks, it doesn't float my boat. I'm poor and will always be so, and I am thoroughly enjoying Arch. It's slow for the likes of me, yes, but there's a myriad of little diversions and goals which I'm enjoying exploring and attaining (often with the help of my long-suffering Clannies telling me 'how to').
I've bought nothing thus far, no mats, chronotes, teas etc. I've been spectacularly bereft of tomes, tetras and the like and have no chins at all. I've pottered my way to level 68 and have had fun doing it and expect to enjoy the journey to an eventual 120 just as much in the coming months.
I think Jagex have catered to both types of player in this skill - the ones who are lashed with cash are having their much anticipated battle for who gets there first (just like they always do), the rest of us are relaxing playing the long game.
I think it's unfair to accuse Jagex of being sell-outs because one has been personally under-prepared to achieve one's personal goals and play-style in the skill, or one lacks a huge cash stack; it rather smacks of jealousy and resentment, no? Raging against RNG is fruitless and a little odd, since Runescape has had this at it's core since forever.
Whilst I get it that some people are ferociously competitive, and acknowledge that the skill has it's issues, this skill is - for the rank and file player - an engaging, interesting and enjoyable pastime. Which is what playing a game is all about, for me.
Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, I guess.

I don't care if the skill is buyable or not. That's RuneScape...some skills are buyable while others are not. So the rich players will always have an advantage when things are buyable.
The RNG with the tomes however is something I don't like but hey, most of RuneScape is RNG too.
I don't think most players really care at all. Most people just play the game for fun.
I really want to know how big of a factor money plays in this skill. Are we talking 20% faster xp/h, 50%? Or as much as double?
As for an earlier post regarding "Woodcutting feeds Firemaking and Fishing feeds Cooking etc".. whilst true, didn't Divination also feed Divination in the beginning? People were buying energy just to maximize their xp

I was super proud of myself for breeding two shiny cows for me and buddy in 24 hrs cause I had elder radiant cows at ready and we knew theyd be killed, so I bred 2 disposable shinies, and now I hear murmur thats getting nerfed. aww. now I see why choobs gaining 60m every 8 hrs or so would bug y'all, but thats not stopping them from doing 200m every 8 hrs hoovering white oaks and the like from ice mountain. Y'all coulda just made shiny cows temp untradeable or something. idk. I mean... I was ready for that one. oh well.
From somebody who hasn't even looked at this new skill yet and is still level 1... what the fuck did I just read

Looking at main-scape vs ironman-scape xp rates (or comparing rank 1 in each highscore), it's a lot more than double. Rank 1's are putting in comparable times, but iron's don't have ge.

That's a very good way to get an idea of the difference. Thanks. Daunting.
