The following piece of parchment was recovered on a scavenging trip. It appears to be exceptionally old, written in either gibberish or a cipher, with an odd symbol drawn in painstaking detail at the bottom of the script, re-drawn by Proteus and Misaldi as the original was very badly damaged.

Sirynx

Screen-Name: Sirynx

Character Name: Sirynx Stalthakis

Character Race: Draeg

Valuable Skills:

Combat

Sirynx is an above-average fire mage, with it being his attuned element, though it's nothing exceptional. He's also a fairly proficient tactician on the battlefield, being able to not only analyze his own situation and adapt accordingly, but even act as a 'commander' in a pinch and survey and give orders across an entire battlefield, though his age and junior nobility renders this mostly a moot point. When it comes to fighting, he's also an exceptionally 'dirty' fighter, making up for a lack of complete combat training with a resolve to win by any means necessary, including low-blows and improvised weapons.

Non-Combat

Sirynx is a researcher and scholar by trade, so he has an exceptional eye for detail, good penmanship, and extensive knowledge on written language, societal customs and courtesies, and the mechanisms of magic and runes. He's a general purpose nerd, so he has a lot of book smarts on a wide-variety of subjects, though the practical application is something he's lacking in on most of them.

Last Myreque Quest Done: None (Currently in progress, will update as needed)

Brief History: Sirynx Stalthakis was born into a family of moderate nobility, being the nephew of the current Fire Councillor, Romulus Stalthakis. He bears the mutation of having wings as a result, which does give him an appearance befitting his stature, however minor. He's spent the majority of his time as a researcher and scholar, with his name attached to a whole bevy of projects and papers, big and small. As of late he's been tasked on several occasions to take that 'R&D' mindset into the field, assisting war parties and scouting detachments as a form of technical adviser. While still fairly 'green' to the role, he's taken to it in stride, with his calm and cheerful demeanor, and quick wit/humor allowing him to be fairly well liked in the field.

Misaldi's Journal
Duneday, 29th Septober

A fair bit's happened this past month, but with the retrieval of new paper from the Meiyerditch base, now seems as good a time as any to collect my thoughts from the goings-on of the past month or so.

Me and Jason, one of the Myreque from Meiyerditch, managed to lure the Peat Mummies to the old Vampyric facility, though it was a right mess - easily fifty of those things were inside, if not more. They're stuck there - for now - but it's quite possible that they'll tunnel out sooner or later despite us caving in the entrances. I know for a fact that a few of them remain, as me and Jason were attacked as we tried to make our way to Paterdomus. Amidst the mess, I lost track of him, and it seems the beast went after him, not me. The fact it didn't come back for me gives me the faintest flicker of hope that Jason made it out alive, but there's a very real possibility we've only delayed the inevitable.

Regardless, even if we've only had the freedom to move for a month, we've spent the time well. My message to the Guild of Heroes was more fruitful than I'd even dreamed, a crate of silver so large it could probably have killed Drakan if dropped on his head, turned up at Paterdomus. No strings attached, no payment asked for. silver for weaponary and for money...it's truly a game-changer, and I'm trying to work on helping the heroes' guild out regardless of their charity. Proteus also set up a deal with, supposedly, the king of Varrock (Or Misthalin? Who cares ) himself. The goddamn king. How Proteus pulled it off, I'll never know, but we've now got free food and water being dropped off at Paterdomus, enough to keep us alive.

That's not to say, however, that it's been easy traveling through the marsh. After the realization that the mosquitoes filling the swamps can't pass the salve barrier, we've known something was up. Me and Proteus saw them firsthand . It was midnight, nearly pitch-black in the middle of the myre but we saw them, damn near ate me alive. Some kind of giant, parasitic leech that attaches itself to humans, and has the ability to leech blood like it's nobody's business while spewing out corrosive acid. They're dumb and relatively easy to avoid, but they're growing more common...

...Proteus believes that all of this is derived from his blood. His, or one of his kind's blood. Doesn't really bother me where they come from, but Proteus managed to rig up some magical system to keep the leeches - and the mosquitoes - from coming to Burgh' idly, materials for the tech funded by the prisoner we rescued a while back (who's now taken to living and working in the mines). Credit where it's due, Proteus's gizmos have probably saved us from a dozen fights if not more.

An asset I thought was lost for good finally turned back up, bearing news that her old boss, Isaac, might be back in Morytania. I was reluctant, but let the two of them head on after the lead. It turned out to be some merc' they'd once fought against, but who's now in a tentative alliance with them. This "Atticus" fellow sounds both dangerous and useful, in that order. Regardless, if his interests align with ours, we'll see how it goes. Elzbeth and Proteus got some good salvage from the trip, anyway.

Made a trip up north with Proteus, hunting after a giant snake as well some splitbark for general repairs. The splitbark went down without a hitch, but the giant snake gave us a run for our money - and also proved that Proteus's f**king shock-wand electrocutes anything damp near the target... Were it not for the fact that he healed up my foot after, I'd probably be bearing a grudge for the amount of singed hairs he gave me when trying to attack the snake in question. Killed it and got it's body back to Burgh', though. Snake meat's chewy, not much of a fan.

Snakeskin, however, is proving to be invaluable. New armor's abound, though the last of it's being used on making Elzbeth a whole new set of gear - since her last lot, somehow, was stolen. Rather than make a slap-dashed mess, we're planning a trip up to Canifis that ought to coincide with our other plans up there.

Me and the tinkerer made a scouting run of Meiyerditch, to...less than spectacular effect. The place is being run much more thoroughly than the chaotic mess it used to be, with captains running different sectors, each one employing some trick or tactic to keep it locked down. Sector one, where our entrypoint is? The goddamn vyrewatch have invisibility. Their boss's apparently good enough with smoke magic to cloak his own men, making sneaking in undetected borderline impossible.

The Meiyerditch Bunker Base's empty, Jason's crew having moved elsewhere - no trace as to where. They were kind enough to leave a few documents behind, at least. Though it's a particularly cruel twist of fate to know that a man I once worked with has now been warped and twisted into a vyrewatch...vyrewatch captain, no less.

Me and Proteus were sloppy, though, and ended up killing a vyrewatch in self-defence. I just hope to Zamorak and back that they assume one of his friends gutted him in the streets...

For now? We prepare for a trip north to Canifis. A chance to pick up the remaining silver, stock up on weaponry and armor, to prepare ourselves for a delve into Meiyerditch. Once Gregor Myrmel lies dead at our feet, we should have the sector one Vyrewatch shaken up enough to smuggle equipment and people into the 'ditch, and if we can destabilize the vampyric system, all the better. People in Meiyerditch are suffering like they've not done in years, and we can ease that suffering. These are the people we fight for. Sometimes, amidst the blood, mud and rage, it's difficult to remember that.

Character Name: Hallie Cornelia Lazwin

Age: 19

Character Race: Human

Valuable Skills: Tracking, stealth, scouting, scavenging, wilderness (swamp) survival, minimal swordplay.

Last Myreque Quest Done: Darkness of Hallowvale in progress.

Brief History:
Hallie grew up with her father, mother, older brother and uncle in their tiny homestead farming the woeful land of Morytania and smithing simple trinkets and baubles out of their diminutive forge. Food was short, the land was near inhospitable and snarling danger prowled at every shadow, but Hallie somehow found optimism at every turn as she grew and worked their family homestead. In thirteen years, she learned the skills that would allow her to survive the bitter life she had been born into.

When Hallie turned thirteen, she lost what little she had in minutes. A pack of werewolves stormed her family's home and slaughtered everyone. Hallie managed to escape, covered in her only family's blood and viscera, but alive. She had managed to fend off a werewolf with her uncle's silver-tipped sword and running out the back and escaping into the swamp with her clothes, the sword and a lantern. From then on, Hallie lived her life wandering Mort Myre mostly alone and nearly devoid of social contact for the next six years. Every so often, she would guide lost travelers and adventurers that had bitten off more than they could chew.
Do not imbibe in the slaughter.

Accepted! Hallie ought to be an interesting and welcome addition to the mix.
