For those anti vaxxers it is not just a simple case of those who take the vaccine = protection - those that don't = natural selection at work - it may turn out to be more complex than that.

We don't currently know how long the vaccine will give protection.
The vaccination program may well take over a year.
We have reason to suspect that those infected can have the virus laying dormant for X amount of time and can reinfect at some future point(s)
Those who have elected to not be vaccinated may develop a strain of the virus that may well mutate to something that the current vaccines can not cope with - back to square one.
Lets hope that the vaccine become compulsory or the anti vaxxers will have have severe restrictions imposed on their movement or even total lockdown.

Yes, this is concerning me too, having already been on the receiving end of administrative bumbling.

From what I've read lately the UK will be setting up mass vaccination centres in places such as auditoriums and the like and drafting in shifts of GPs and Nurses. This will, no doubt, entail many hours of standing around outside, braving the Winter weather. Far from ideal for elderly or infirm people who are not in Care Homes.

There's bound to be traffic and parking chaos in the surrounding localities and does one lose one's place in the queue if needing the toilet - always assuming there are such facilities available.

The logistics are horrible to contemplate as is the prospect of having to stand in one of these queues. However, needs must when the Devil drives.

I'm ordering a lightweight collapsible seat-thing from the internet and will be checking my winter attire for suitability to lengthy exposure in cold, wet conditions.

Look all I've wanted to state from the very beginning of this thread is there will always be side-effects to vaccines & that people should have an understand of the Risk they're taking no matter how minute it may be.

The media glamorises vaccines as if they're nothing more than eating a handful of smarties / M & M's, yet there's some nasty ingredients that go into vaccines in order to kill any bacteria growth.

I read labels all the time, there's nothing wrong with doing that when shopping, now is there?

So why should this be any different with vaccines.

To be honest, I'd actually get a Meningococcal vaccine without a second thought, as I've seen what it can inflict onto the human body.

Yet Covid, I'm still not all that convinced that it isn't anything more than a bad flu.

There are side-effects to pretty much everything in life. You can get killed walking down the street by a drunk driver mounting the pavement; you can get food poisoning from eating an egg ... the list is endless.

It's all about weighing up the risk v benefit. If you truly believe Covid is nothing more than a bad 'flu then don't have the vaccine (the 1 million+ who are reported to have died from it might disagree with you on that, if they could).

If you believe that the vaccine contains nasty ingredients then don't have it - however, you don't actually know what's in it yet.

But maybe also bear in mind that without a vaccine you are more likely to get it and even if you are lucky enough to have 'bad flu' because of it there could be someone, or several someones that you pass it on to who could be extremely ill because of it, or have long lasting illness complications or even die.

It's not all about personal protection and choices, there's social conscience in there as well.
There may be side-effects with it but that's ok, I'm prepared to take a hit for the team.

How many times do you need to be told that you need a palanquin with a en-suite?
Sheesh

God forbid someone has an opposing opinion.

Good on you for having an opinion, opposing one at that ... When you are in the minority group this often means you often have opposition against you.

New Zealand was one of a few countries that went into lockdown fast and strong, we worked hard as a country to eradicate Covid-19 and it worked, 6 months later we still get the occasional community transmission, the authorities work hard to eradicate it and they do. People come into our country with the virus and are put straight into quarantine. Every person that comes into our shores has to go into isolation for 2 weeks. Strict lockdown measures have worked for our country, yes we are a island, yes we have a small population which has worked in our favour and possibly made it easier to contain but without the strict rules we have to abide by Covid-19 would not have been eradicated.

Yeah I agree that NZ did the right thing with this. I think so much could have been avoided had other countries done the same thing sooner. Other *islands* :/

So .... we in the UK are being told we can have Christmas with 3/4 other households (details to be confirmed).

No doubt infection rates will rise again even further shortly thereafter and we'll be placed into regional lockdowns, yet again, which will be even stricter than hitherto. For the sake of a turkey dinner.

Other sectors of the population have had to forego traditional religious gatherings and celebrations already this year but it seems unthinkable that those Christmas crackers don't get pulled :|

ROFL !!
Blimey, I haven't seen that word used in a sentence probably for decades. Kudos, Stoaty.

I'd go with your suggestion but sourcing reliable Bearers these days ... pfff, you just can't get the staff, ya know.
