It's been quite a common practice in a number of countries in communal areas for a few years now, hasn't it? Not sure if it's because of air pollution or because of dense population in the cities and people are seeking to protect themselves.

I was wondering today how the UK will handle the implementation of a Covid vaccine as and when one becomes available for general release. Given that they have bungled every other aspect of Covid management I can foresee a total shambles.

I was summoned to a 'Clinic' by my GP last week for my annual 'Flu jab. We were required to wait outside - dozens upon dozens upon dozens of us, all over 65 and/or classed as highly vulnerable due to pre-existing conditions - in a cold and windy car park in the rain. After an almost 2 hour queue in these miserable conditions we were informed supplies had run out :|
Why issue letters to so many people at once when supplies were clearly limited, one wonders?

Given the abysmal failure in administering a routine local annual event it begs the question of how much of a debacle will occur once mass vaccinations are the order of the day.

Our GP surgery has an appointment system for the flu jab. Me and hubby are going this Saturday morning for ours. Hubby has had the vaccination for years due to his asthma, this year is the first time I'm eligable ( due to age ) so I have no idea how I'll react. Some people say it makes them feel like they've got a cold, hubby has always been absolutely fine afterwards.

All the best.

I've never had the flu jab. Apparently my job wants to make it mandatory to have it at no cost, I hope not as I don't want it and I'm not at the stage to needing it for health reasons. I also don't want to leave my job. Since winters over I don't feel it will be an issue until next year.

I just hope mask wearing culture does not get thrown out the window when the pandemic blows over. Anybody with symptoms of even the common cold should wear a mask in public places moving forward. It is becoming a basic courtesy.

I'm sure the flu, common colds and other illnesses must be at a all time low due to lockdown, mask wearing, better hand washing, hand sanitizers and coughing techniques.

Why do you not want it other than you aren't at the stage to needing it for health reasons?

I have had the flu jab for the last few years and had no adverse side effects, I will be getting one again this year. Remember Caz. Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I've been getting one for the last 5 years - only had a 'bad' reaction once which was that it made the site of the injection a bit red and sore for a few days, so no biggie.

I phoned my GP to moan about their failure and was given an actual Surgery appointment for 16 October at a designated time - fingers crossed.

I remember as a child being in the Mass Vaccination programmes for both Smallpox and Polio. People just turned up at local venues such as Church Halls and shuffled along, got jabbed, went home. Maybe administration techniques have gone down the tubes over the years. Hopefully things will improve by the time the Covid vaccine is available (assuming it will be at some point).
