Lockdown for school half term sounds plausible considering the measures introduced this week are as effective as a chocolate teapot. This comes after all the rubbish about 'one last Summer bash' in Blackpool because a worryingly large amount of people are incapable of exercising restraint and resilience.
The complaints have now moved over to Christmas allegedly being "cancelled". Having restrictions in place for just one out of many so we can get over this health crisis would be worth it in the long term. This pandemic is not a joke, and it is about time those who fail to follow the rules are brought to justice.

i wish justice was do-able for those who break rules, or dont take them seriously. but that in it self is unrealistic unfortunately

I agree - it would be unrealistic to expect full enforcement, especially for unknown entities. It is important that enforcement is targeted at high profile figures and events which seek to undermine the reputation of medical and scientific experts. All in the name of setting an example.

I am curious how these measures - certainly those regarding pubs - will work out.
Chucking everyone out at ten on the dot - at time when beer is readily available in shops, might create even greater issues.
I suppose we'll soon see.
At least your chocolate teapot doesnt squirt hot liquid back in your face.
I read that shop staff are being attacked and abused for trying to get people to obey the social distancing and face covering rules.
At the supermarket yesterday I was tempted to approach a young couple who weren't wearing masks. I thought I could say that I was very sorry that they both had medical problems which meant they couldn't wear masks but then I thought...he's a strong looking man and I'm a short old woman..I'd better not say anything because I'd probably end up getting abused. Also its amazing how many people wear masks just over their mouth.....
I went to the supermarket yesterday and there was a group of women who had stopped to chat - every single one of them had lowered their mask so they were only covering their chins, presumably so they could "chat more easily".
On the next aisle was a couple who looked to be in their mid 20s, neither of them wore masks.
Unfortunately it seems that things will have to get even worse before everyone starts taking heed of the rules.
Policing the guidelines (whether by actual police or staff) isn't working. The police have admitted they don't have anywhere near the manpower, and as mentioned already, shop staff are in fear of abuse.
The problem is that a sizeable portion of humanity is just plain stupid.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
