Your "corrections" are entirely unnecessary. It has been statistically proven over and over again that lockdown serves the purpose of separating individuals one from the other and this has the effect of curbing the spread of the virus. Hence it has been adopted by many countries as a form of disease control. A direct effect of this is less pressure on health workers since less people become infected at any given time.

Now, I know that you take every opportunity to attempt to contradict me or make sad little snide remarks in various places across the forums (as has been noticed by many others). I don't mind this at all because it speaks far more of you than I could ever say but - please - don't use a vehicle so serious as worldwide deaths to pursue your little fixation on me.
It's inappropriate and rather repugnant.

It's now rather irrelevant what the WHO said at the commencement of this world pandemic. The situation evolved rapidly and way beyond the scope that anyone could reasonably have anticipated.

It's also rather irrelevant what the original purpose of lockdown was in the eyes of one body. The facts remain, are indisputable and the 'original' intention of lockdown matters not at all.
Personally, I don't give a rat's arse what the WHO said six months or more ago, or whenever, as to the purpose of lockdown.

It works. It works by helping to curb the spread of the virus. The spin-off benefit is that is evens out of workload for the health services.

I'm not going to labour the point with you any further since that would merely be pathetic and pointless.

The level of resentment towards those that imposed such strict conditions, won't soon be forgotten, as to mention the mistrust now many have towards those that forced the lock-downs for what they weren't intended for, may highly likely play a role in those that refuse the vaccine when it arrives.

Perhaps instead of sugar coating the lock-downs as a complete success, offer an insight to their impact.

Nor do you factor in the mental health toll delivered from financial stress & the immediate & potential job losses.

You are claiming a 'mental health crisis' directly attributable to lockdown. Do you have reliable sources of information which quantify how many people have such issues attributable to lockdown, who did not hitherto have a pre-existing mental health issue?

Or are you just regurgitating the baseless ramblings of the gutter press and conspiracy theorists? Verifiable facts and numbers are quite important when making claims, you see, rather than speculation. Oh, and something to compare those numbers to would add substance to your claim - such as how many people per annum develop mental health issues pre-lockdown. For comparison purposes, you understand.

Please do trawl through this thread and give me an example where I "mocked" people who had lost businesses? Seeing as you're accusing me of mocking?

Certainly people have, indeed, lost businesses or their job. I've never disputed that. However, I have scant sympathy for anyone who bemoans their income being interrupted whilst similarly not giving a shit about people getting sick and dying (the whole point of lockdown) because them earning money is more important than anyone or anything else. Including the lives of others. Businesses can be restarted. New jobs can be found.
Dead people don't resurrect.

And whether or not I or my family were affected in any way and in what way is none of your business and irrelevant m'kay. Please do try to stay broad-brush and impersonal otherwise I will worry that your fixation is asserting itself again.

Right, that's why you can't have Thanksgiving or go to church or your kids can't go to school, but your leaders can get haircuts without masks and hold dinner parties. One set of rules for us, another for them. While they're living it up, we're losing jobs, business, and we're falling prey to depression, alcohol abuse and deaths of despair.

All for a virus with a 99% survival rate.

No one is saying the virus itself isn't real, we're saying its death rates have been exaggerated. And we're saying your leaders are using covid as an excuse to bring about these really harsh, draconian measures of control. What do you call curfews, laws on how many people you can have over, whether or not you can go out like you used to.
