In that case I think you're just ignoring a lot of people who don't care about LGBT as individuals or as a lifestyle but support their equal treatment regardless, which is the most correct to take in my opinion; it shows an adherence to principles without excessively catering to LGBT just because they're a marginalized minority.
Thank you, that's what I was trying to get at. Sorry for my roundabout ways of explaining myself.

Like, seriously, to me being L, G, B or T isn't special, but for some folks it is a form of honour or merit that must be known—something I disagree with. It's merely a group to congregate similar individuals, such as Asian clubs or Hispanic clubs in schools. Sometimes I feel I'm on par with people who only want to see gay rights advocacy stay within rally events, or who don't see the reason to add any more letters to "LGBT". Because in the end, it's the things one does that matters, not who the person is, and I hope one day, soon, that could be said about LGBT, racial minorities, and even women.

Well said, and not a problem; I also apologize for my combative tone when I first addressed ya.

I don't think I said anything about necessitating my orientation above all of humanity.

I'd like to add something that some straight people need to understand, and as a general thing for everyone of which to be aware.

I have met and known many straight individuals who claim to support LGBT, but then blindly say, "I don't care if you're gay."

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

What are you trying to say here then, that you want to be treated like everyone else, but want people to care that you're gay? Unless I am very mistaken here and I am reading this 100% incorrectly here (which is possible), this sounds a hell of a lot like wanting attention for the sake of it:

"ehh, your support is nice, BUT YOU MUST CARE THAT I AM GAY OR IT DOESN'T COUNT!!!"

Let me let you in on a story, specifically has to do with advocacy and actually happened in Runescape:

It was about the time Angof was released in game and all of its fiasco, and I remember making a remark that intolerance hatred needs to be tolerated because even if the person speaking said hatred is missing for whatever reason, their ideology will live on and manifest itself elsewhere, and that in trying to fight (notice the diction here) said intolerance, we ourselves are becoming the intolerant ones and the message is lost amongst the shitshow. I wish I had this screencapped at the time, but a PMod PM'd me regarding what I said shortly after, basically saying that:

I was a transphobe

That I hate gays

That I am a disgrace to society

etc etc etc.

Is that any way to be talking to people, irrespective of whatever opinion they may have? Is that any way of gaining meaningful support for your cause- by telling them they are disgusting human beings and a disgrace towards society if they don't support support it 100%?

Most likely you are. But keep reading, buddy. All you're doing is quoting a very short thesis.

They probably meant to say that a person is a person and they won't hate you or hold anything against you for being gay. Which is completely fine. It might just be the wording difference between saying "I don't care if you're gay" and "I don't mind if you're gay". The former likely comes off as being rude and possibly dismissing the positive more than the negative, while the latter dismisses the negative. The difference being context for caring and minding. Let's face it, saying "I care if you're gay" might imply more on the positive side and an increased likelihood to support, while "I mind" could imply discrimination against you. When and how did I ever accuse anyone of hating gays or being a disgrace without premise or instigation? I never made any presumption of the sort because I clearly based them on experiences, and kept my theses revolving around them. So how is this relevant to me?

The more you keep bringing up these types of things, the more I'm convinced you didn't actually read any of my posts. :(

I agree wording has a lot to do with how people take people's support or rejection. And it's even worse when there are people who get infuriated with people who don't support the cause.

What people are not paying attention to when reading my posts is that when people say they don't care, or they support it, or whatever, some of these people end up making remarks later on, wishing they weren't always around gay stuff. As much as I agree that homosexuality shouldn't be something that forces itself into the spotlight, think about it:

A straight person claims not to care if there are gay people. It's their life. That person isn't gay, so what should gay rights movements matter to him? He even supports it because he has a sister or a friend who's homosexual. Totally fine. But here's when the tides shift. They are fed up with seeing it everywhere, so they ask if gay people would keep all the gay stuff to themselves. Boom. If they didn't care, they wouldn't be concerned about seeing it. If they supported it, they would accept it being something they see regularly. That's my point that many are missing. I know I tend to ramble and bring up points I made a few paragraphs back, but it's somewhat annoying when people put words in others' mouths.

I do not support the government having a registry full of gay people. What if they put a stamp on ur drivers license? One that u can't take off.
Does the stamp have a 1 or a 9 on it? ;)
