I'm so thrilled to see that there's actually a post about this.

• What is your country/society's attitudes towards the LGBT community?
I'm from Panama and in my country, same-sex activity has been legal since 2008 and has been declassified as a mental illness in 2008. Panama was the last country in Central America to overturn the anti-sodomy law. In some way's it's frowned upon, but it's more accepting. Currently, I live in the US and it's quite a lot more accepting. Of course, there are people out there who don't approve, but overall, there is more acceptance with ever-growing rights

• What are your opinions on Gay Marriage? Is it legal in your country?
I fully support gay marriage! There are no questions about that. In Panama, unfortunately, it's not legal. There are no legal protections nor do they receive the same benefits as opposite-sex couples. The US has legalized it.

• What is something you wish society could understand about LGBT?
People of the LGBT community are no different than anyone else and should not be disregarded.

• Do you believe that homosexuality is caused by genetics or environmental factors?
Absolutely NOT.

• Is there an adequate representation of LGBT in the media (including gaming industries)?
It's coming, along, and look forward to seeing more diversity and love being spread.

• What're your views on gender-neutral bathrooms?
I believe they should be a thing, but I fear for non-binary people's safety in situations like this because I've seen people get followed to bathrooms and harassed and would not want to see or hear about a Cishet person go into a gender-neutral bathroom and harass them.

• What're your current opinions on the human rights violations against LGBT persons around the world (such as the death penalty for homosexuality)?
The death penalty is wrong. You love who you love and nobody should take that away from you.

To continue on;

• Share your experiences dealing with, encountering, or witnessing discrimination against LGBT persons.
I broke up with an ex-boyfriend because he's made horrible comments to and about some friends of mine who are LGBT, and I definitely don't play that whatsoever. I have only one known member in my family that I know so far who is a lesbian and that's one of my aunts and I love her to pieces. I left a club one night with some friends and I happened to see a guy walking by himself, dressed very beautifully and noticed men in an alley ahead of him as if they were waiting to drag him, and we were walking into a secluded part of downtown. I only know this because earlier on before the night ended, I walked right along by those guys who were making very rude comments about the fabulous people walking by, and of course after they made some very disgusting suggestive remarks to me lol, but anyway, so I literally ran up to the boy and started walking with him, of course on the darker side, literally risking myself lol. I introduced myself as he did as well, we walked and got acquainted and until he got to his car, and I then finally told him why I walked with him, and he hugged me so tight and thanked me. I actually decided to make friends with him and we talk and hang out every now and then.

Hi everyone!

Due to the politically invitational nature of this thread, I have to request for a lock on this thread.

As we arrive at this closure, please allow me to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to this thread, allowed themselves to be vulnerable, shared their personal stories, and everyone else who have been so supportive. Thank you!

If any of you are ever struggling with sexuality, please know that you are not alone. Speak to your GP or a counsellor, who’ll be able to direct you to a community that can provide support for you (which includes minimising risk of homelessness).

All the best to everyone!
