Google are Jagex's partners providing security for their accounts, how you can try to compare that to shady programs not made, supported or partnered by Jagex designed to give players an advantage in violation of ToS is beyond me.
At the end of the day jagex doesnt own google auth just like they dont own the wiki or any other 3rd party thing.
So saying one should be banned just because ppl dont like it is just as nonsensical.
I mean why ban one but not the others? Just because one "helps"? Alt1 "helps" does it not?
With the RS-Wiki, some might argue that "you're cheating yourself" by using a guide, but you're not really cheating 'in the game' like Alt1. People shouldn't feel bad for needing a hint in the right direction, especially when a quest or part of Runescape lacks intuitive design. Plus the Wiki offers so much more, adding depth to content. Alt1 doesn't teach you anything, it just dumbs down the game so you can complete more clues and bypass spending millions on skip tickets. It looks like a bot, it acts like a bot, it smells like a bot, but as long as you are the 'mechanical operator' (and it doesn't auto-click for you) then its not a bot? -shrugs-
Maybe there lays the issue, small print, Alt1 has been allowed (by omission) on technicality.

Thus there goes that logic.
No Draco, there is no logic from you here. Jagex partnered with google on authentication and it provides account security, not ingame advantages. Using authenticator is not a player violation of ToS.
You are actually the daftest person out of the 10 people who post on these forums.
You'll get it when you deserve it.

You say im daft when you keep proving you arent reading anything im saying.
I've never once said anything about it not providing security or anything about ToS, just that its 3rd party and doesnt matter if jagex is partnered with them or not.
Unless jagex bought google, jagex doesnt own any part of the authenticator app.
So if jagex can partner with a 3rd party company, google, then they can allow something like Alt1.

They could partner with whoever they want, but they haven't so your point is moot.

???
They are partnered with google due to app.
So please tell me how muy point is moot?...
???
You're trying to trying to say google auth is the same as alt1. Jagex partnered with them for it, yet they havent partnered with the maker of alt1 just like they haven't partnered with people who make bots.

I never said they partnered with Alt1 so please actually read what i said.
Unless the Google Authenticator can give someone a 'competitive advantage' why are we talking about it? Are we really comparing Google, a giant, with some random bloke/gal that developed a script for Runescape? We were closer with the Alt1 VS RS-Wiki comparison.

This isnt about giving unfair advantages but more so google is a 3rd party company.
So please tell me why ones ok but the other isnt?
Besides personal reasons. Just because one protects you acc means nothing. Its the acc holders responsibility to make sure their acc is safe thus for all anyone knows downloading the app could give a virus on their phone.
