After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that an issue which could cause worlds to go offline has now been resolved.

Regarding the concerns some of you have about the in-game economy: there has been no duplication of gold or rare/valuable items.

We would also like to reiterate that we take disruption of play and unfairly gained wealth very seriously, and are actively improving our systems to combat this - both visibly and invisibly.

Note: I'm not quoting myself, but I dunno how to quote a post on the main page of this website.

Also, I don't actually believe the Jagex, but it's an interesting claim. I don't, then, disbelieve. I'm zen neutral on the Jagex. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity. :(

2k BSH total = 13.3k RSH
3k BSH total = 20k RSH

Holly dropped to a low of 240m i think after release. BSH went slightly lower i think it was 200m. There is more BSH then hollys but not to the extend of 4-5 times as many.

Hats seem to have been stable past few weeks. Will we see a traditional end of summer spike followed by an even more traditional start of school crash? Or will it just stay flat more or less.

I dont think they can go up anymore for now tbh,so i guess it all will drop a bit.
Maybe santa will still hit max but i doubt it would hold for even a few days.

There have been multiple server crashes in a short time, which makes this difficult to talk about as you need a timeline. The initial server crash, followed by Sir Pugger's video, was brought to light mid-June (the video posted on June 15th). This video suggested a dupe, and there were statements by Mod JD and Poerkie corroborating there had indeed been server crashes in the same manner as the ones that dupers used on OSRS months prior, and that those server crashes had happened 2 weeks prior to the Sir Pugger video. Poerkie did mention that the number of yellow phats remained the same as two week prior, but that they had removed "billions" of gold, as much as they could trace.
2 weeks is a lot of time to dupe, so odds are they duped primarily shards and cashed them out, "cleaning" the gp via GE transactions by buying lower rares. I don't believe they duped rares, or if they did, they didn't dump them on the ge. I do believe, however, they duped a shitton of gold/shards within those two weeks. I believe, without a dupe, the lower rares would have stabilized lower than they are by now (but higher than they were pre-arch). I don't think I should post an outside link here, but I can link you to the Reddit comment that summarizes Poerkie's and JD's statements regarding this dupe if you'd like.

The next crash, the one your comment refers to, I believe was in regards to a duel arena bug where people would be hit offline during a duel before they were able to attack their opponent. There was a Reddit comment that linked to a video where a user engaged in a very high-stakes duel (multiple partyhats)..

(character limit sorry!)... where the individual was hit offline as soon as they entered the duel, during the countdown. They lost the stake. Shortly after that video was posted it was removed from twitter (and I can't find the reddit post either unforunately), and there was an unscheduled server maintenance during the day for me (around 3:00pm PST I believe? Middle of the night for Jagex) where they patched it, and released the post you quoted @Trip. This wasn't a dupe-related patch, which is why they said nothing was duped.

There have been a lot of issues with the RS servers lately, which seems to be par for the course in 2020, but there was definitely a dupe that occured mid-June.

No it shouldn't and no it isn't.

There's way more active CTH's in-game - multiple clans have tried to merch it, and the highest it reached was like 170-180m. When they realised how many there is, and how hard it is to make it rise, they all dumped and it crashed back to 120-140m.

There's just too many active, sorry - it's just like with Fish Mask. It was released 8 years ago but is still only 4m because there's too many.

when santas were rereleased it was complete some easy miniquest get a bunch of santas for no effort. For tree hats you had to skill for them and get as a rare drop and it only lasted 2 weeks.Santa was released in 2004 i think? If so thats 8 years later tree hat was released. It took several years for santas to reach 150m just like tree hats. The only difference between santa and tree hat price is time. In terms of rarity obtaining from events tree hats were much rarer. In terms of active I would say same rarity. I need my blue charms back.

@Trip, I agree they should as well. The compartmentalization of information across multiple platforms (twitter, reddit, rs forums, news posts, discord, instagram, facebook et al) makes it very difficult to get a full picture of what Jagex says, does, and endorses. It hurts them the way they drop info across all these medias, yet they don't seem to take any discerning action to localize it all, which I find strange. In regards to the dupe, I suppose they figured the less info on it the better as its bad PR.

Anyways, back on the current topic... I also think CTH falls under the discontinued category, and is more appropriately suited to the discontinued pc thread than the SoF thread myself. I wouldn't be surprised if there are similar quantities of CTH/RSH, though to say definitively one way or the other is just speculation.

It isn't speculation, though, to say that RSH was much easier to obtain than CTH. On release, and shortly after, I personally have no doubt there were significantly more RSH than there were CTH upon its release, and shortly after as well. Whether or not other outside factors reduced the quantity so severely that RSH is in less supply than CTH currently, I don't know.
