I personally don't think seeing OG discontinued items on the GE will affect their prices too much. They are items that are very infrequently sold, and so there will never be an accurate average price on the items (ex. disk of returning). So, players will still have to rely on price checking forums and clans in order to get an idea of the prices -- of which, a lot of it is, admittingly, manipulated. So what really changes?
The only thing that would bring down prices is if they are re-released, more are introduced (ex. behind the scenes -- GE would make this very easy, and I wouldn't put it past Jagex), and obviously, a deflationary environment.
Personally, I'm quite excited for the update. I hate having to know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows someone else, who heard someone talking about having a Christmas Cracker, just get an opportunity to buy the item!
