The total number of gphats can't be much higher than 300k. This is going off the amount of xp it takes for a fresh alt to make a gphat and looking up what rank that gets you in the month of December (Around 250k).

Of course, everyone uses different methods. However, this hiscore list includes F2P accounts and mains.

This is a genious aproach. Nice find,i would never have thought to look at it this way. Is there a reddit thread somewhere that does discuss this aproach in more detail with all the numbers ?

Anyway,it seems obvious that the GSH has way more potential then the GPH at least for now.

GPH does rise very slowly while GSH jumped from 600 to 1400 in 1-2 days. And after that back to 800 and again to 1400 in 1-2 days. How come GSH is so much more volatile then GPH which is beeing flipped for 10m or less it seems. The only explanation i can think of is GSH beeing far more rare. I would guess GSH is at least 10 times as rare as GPH but that off course is just a guess.

They are different items and not so easy to compare. Its normal for market cap to be different. Its kinda like crypto,all the coins have a different market cap depending on their popularity and some other factors. Still if GSH is indeed 10 times more rare then GPH the current ratio does seem a bit off to me.

GSH jumped because the TH promotion ended. You have to wait for GPH event to end to really make that comparison.

Either way, whether or not GPH jumps tonight, GSH by comparison is a hopeless investment which can only go down in price over time. It will be re-released every single year. It is more like tokens, and anyone who has owned tokens has recently been made to feel the hopelessness of holding them

GSH is only valuable right now mainly because people can't psychologically separate it from other santa hats. But that will wear off over time.

I don't think so. It's just a method that I've been using for myself to get a rough estimate.

sure maybe gsh is less quantity but the difference is that it can be re released any second of the year, meanwhile gphat is gone for good.

so the first months ppl will see: oo gsh is jumping, gotta hop on that train. but the longer that goes on the more they will realize you gotta hop on the right train to get home.

goes to show that greed kills quicker than any other poison.

simplified version: short term sure gsh, long term rip ur bank if they release it again. trusting certain pc lists or prices of items or websites that dont belong to jagex will get you into trouble notice: external websites and trades are your responsibility, dont get fooled!.

gunna be amusing to watch the runup to next xmas where all the demand dries up as a ever increasing number of gsh sellers try to unload their hats, chasing price down and down getting more desperate as the weeks go on. Probably will start sometime in the early fall

Even though you went back to edit this post from 250m to 500m, the current price after the event and at the time of writing this, the gold phat is at 582m.
