The Shards seems to be really, really rare, maybe that's why this event will last so long.

I can easily see the Golden Phat being 200m+ with the current rarity of the shards.

I think many will give up and just get bored of trying to obtain the shards.

I managed to get 1.5m EXP in Farming without a shard, so drop-rate is probably like 3m+ exp for a piece

I assume that once enough players start to complain about not obtaining a shard, they may boost the drop rate for certain skills. We do have 6 weeks to obtain one and if you are planning on getting a shard a day, thats only 8 days until the first Gold Phat. If someone gets the 1st Phat today, then that will encourage more people to grind.

Q: Some of the shards come from drops but I have terrible luck. What is the likelihood I won’t be able to finish it?

A: Slim! While there is an element of RNG to collecting the shards, they also have in-built 'bad luck' protection. As you continue to train a skill or complete clue scrolls, the likelihood of getting a shard grows exponentially. Essentially, it's our intent that players who are actively playing throughout this event will be able to create their own hat without too much worry

Q: Will Protean items drop the shards?

A: Yes, Protean items will be able to drop their relevant shards.

Q: Where can I buy the shard that's for sale?

A: Nic the Trader will sell you a shard! You can find him at the Grand Exchange.

Q: Does the clue shard come from completing a Clue Scroll or from the Casket?

A: The shard will come from completing a Clue Scroll.

Exp has literally nothing to do with it but the time spent training certain skill.
The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.
