As I mentioned before when people said the golden phat was going to be a one thing event... This new release (and possible rereleases? don't know if this pete will bring old ones back too?) will keep happening because Jagex is a "for-profit" corporation and so long as it generates more revenue, they will continue to do so.

And to whoever said they have to keep old players happy bla bla bla... as I mentioned, Jagex apparently saw the ones hoarding these rares are the minority and would not care if they leave for the greater good of making more money lol.

Of course, the presents contain a festive assortment of prizes from years gone by, too .

people will still do both.

because gold partyhat is more of a easier obtainable item then the green santa hat will be, plus also they'll officially be doing both by still aiming for the gold partyhat because you gain wrapping paper every so ofton gaining xp.

so people will be farming for the gold phat shards and will be also collecting wrapping paper at the same time.

Also what makes you think people will be all that interested to hoard all these when there's all that talk about money sinks, 07 got ge taxes there's a high probability we get it too just as a direct money sink and not item sink If gp becomes the thing, then shard boxes will win. That’d be interesting to see. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity. :(

Support well said lmao I wonder if BSH and 1st gen rares will come back. They never explicitly said BSH was discontinued right? Anyways this is actually healthy for the game to drop a new generation of rares every 20 years. This is a new generation of rares and needs to be respected as so. We all only live once and should enjoy diversity and new rares coming in. All the people hogging their blue phats including players right now will be too old to play in 20 years anyways so enjoy the time as we are making history! Gold phats + green santas will be the new foundation for the future.

Some people fail to realize that when the discontinued items were discontinued (pun intended), it was Andrew Gower's idea to preserve game integrity. Well... we all know there is no such thing as game integrity anymore lol It is an outdated (and erroneous) idea that rares must be untradeable and released far between each other. Back in 2001 when the "almighty" christmas cracker was first made public, look at how close rares were released from each other: October 2001 for Pumpkin, December 2001 for Christmas cracker, April 2002 for Easter egg, October 2002 Hween Masks, December 2002 Red Santa Hat...

So now Jagex has realized "Hey! We can profit from this, and keep majority of players happy and engaged! So let's release more rares! (engagement being a key metric for game developers for those of you kids who don't know how the real world works because you spend too much time playing video games)

I would not be surprised if they decide to bring a black party hat, white/yellow/blue santa hat, black/white hween masks, rerelease old ones, or create new ones.
