The Golden Partyhat is a dream come true.
I’m hoping it looks exactly like the other traceable partyhat so excluding the chromatic one in the inventory interface if not better.
I’m hoping it faces the right way and isn’t backward or something.

You can only create 1 partyhat per account.

If you take out low altable shards like premier club clue scrolls the miniquest and marks of war that leaves you with 7 shards. So there is definitely going to be under 100k of them.

1. you get for free from wise old man
2. quest which the previous ones have 0 requirements to complete im going to say this wont have any either.
3. Croesus for marks of war?
4. Combat skills - killing rats
5. Gathering skills - fish shrimp
6. Artisans skills - cook shrimp
7. Support skills - pickpocket men
8. 30m gp.

all those can be done easily unless there isn't any Croesus public games anymore.

otherwise it doesn't mention in the news post for premier if it has to be gold or if you get a shard with just bronze/silver packages also. - if so it would unoffiially set the "alt" minimum price of gold phats to be 200m+ minimum (5 bonds 40m+ each for bronze) [230m+ if you buy the 30m shard]

and for skills it doesnt say you need a certain level minimum req to get shards, so even if it's a lvl 3 with no xp you'd imagine you can get shards from the things listed to the right of each skill set.

Jagex made an update post on the homepage stating they did away with the bronze and silver packages.

I personally don't see people creating tons of alts to produce gold partyhats. Very very few people would waste $70 usd for a year subscription just to get a g phat shard. What's the lowest possible combat level needed to get marks of war? Will they really spend the amount of time getting to lvl 15 in the yak track task for every lvl 3 alt account created? And I think you can throw clue scrolls out as well since those don't fall off trees to get.

So by my math that's premiere membership, marks of war, lvl 15 yak track, and clue scrolls as the means that would not be used to gain shards. 11 (total ways to get shards) minus 4 equals 7 which is 1 shard too few to get a g phat.

Now this is under the assumption that you can only get 1 shard each way. For example: 1 shard no matter if you mine ore for 1 hour or 99 hours under the gathering category.

We still dont know how long it will take for the shards to drop while skilling... if this takes a long time, it can become rare

From what Jagex has said, it will only take a couple hours at most to get a shard while skilling.

Method as a fresh level 3:
1. Talk to the Wise Old Man
2. Complete 3 mini quests
3. Kill Men/Women in Lumbridge
4. Mining, Fishing, Woodcutting, Farming, Hunter, Divination, Archaeology - train whichever one your Yak Track task is. Or just fish some Shrimp?
5. Herblore, Crafting, Fletching, Smithing, Cooking, Firemaking, Runecrafting, Construction - train whichever one your Yak Track task is. Or just cook those Shrimp?
6. Agility, Thieving, Slayer, Dungeoneering - train whichever one your Yak Track task is - or just pickpocket Men in Lumbridge?
7. Complete Level 15 Yak Track as above
8. Pay 30m gp

9. Redeem a bond or buy 1 month membership to assemble the hat in a member's world. You can make more than enough gold in 42 days to buy a bond with absolutely no requirements. You could even make the extra 30m cash so it's completely free.

For points 4, 5, 6 (rng-based activities) they have already confirmed there is bad luck mitigation, so you're 100% guaranteed to get a shard after a period of time.

Why people think there will only be a few thousand hats really confuses me..

I don't think the intention is for them to be as rare as people might want them to be. When the og phats dropped they were considered worthless because everyone had so many of them. The only way these will grow in value to be anywhere near the old hats is through time of gaining new players and losing old players who have X number of them.
I still wait at the general store for a phat. One day, one last phat will be sold to the general store, for me to rebuy.

I might be wrong but i remember some update from a long time ago where hats dont show up in the store anymore to combat rwit.

When I first heard the news, I thought I’d maybe try to get one on all my accounts. Then I re-read all the requirements and said eff that. If they’re anything less than about 100m each I won’t bother even on my main.

So, the price will dictate how many enter the game. If it is high, more people will bother – if it is low, lazy people like me who only half-play the game will just buy one in the GE. It should work as quite a nice feedback loop actually.

A few people have mentioned bots/alts. As I see it there are two options for them acquiring membership:

1. They buy a bond, in which case the minimum cost of achieving a golden partyhat will be 30m + ~40m, so they’re hardly going to bother if the price drops below 100m.
2. They pay about $70 for premier package … how much gp would $70 buy you on the black market?

So surely the bot option is unviable (unless prices stay high), or am I missing something?

Have they said what type of methods will give shard chances?

For example, will using Shb give you a chance for a shard from agil?

Will portables have one for their respective skills? How about proteans?

Or is it just "normal" skilling methods?
