What areas/natural landmarks do you guys think are in most need for a rework extending ?

It's an unusual choice, but let's start with the outlaw hideout between Varrock and Edgeville. This is supposed to be a secluded location where outlaws can get up to their nefarious activities away from the prying eyes of the authorities...

...except...

...there are only a couple of trees separating the camp from Edgeville on one side and the Grand Exchange on the other. This used to be a vast wooded area offering both safety and shelter until most of it was bulldozed in the name of 'commerce'. I don't know why guards from either side don't just arrest the outlaws, because they are now clearly visible from both locations.

Next would be the River Lum, which is more of a stream really. Quite why it needs so many bridges when you could practically jump across it is beyond me.

Then, pretty much the whole F2P area, as it is all far too crowded with content.

I see this as more of a pipe dream than anything, but RS definitely could use a scaling up. For me, the world feels too crowded and unnatural, so perhaps some extra space added here and there for fluffiness might be good.

But then again, before the lodestones, the world did feel huge because of how long it took to travel on foot across the continent. If anything, I think it would be more realistic to see a graphical reorganization to make the world look more natural and less artificial.

but it would have enormous knock on effects to the balance and economics of the world.

This is interesting. I would have assumed that given the lodestones and the fairy ring network and the gnome gliders and the eagles and the spirit trees... basically, scaling up the map, as I had thought it would be would simply be taking the existing map, cutting it into pieces, and adding in (relatively) empty space between those pieces. Space in which new content could later be added over time.

So the area around, say, the Seer's Village lodestone would look the same as it does now, and the area around the Ardougne lodestone would also look the same as it does now... there would just be a longer walk between them. So it would be more difficult to activate new lodestones for the first time... but the economic balance of mining or chopping wood and so on would be unchanged.

Scaling up the whole map uniformly, of course, would have the bad effects described, but that wouldn't fix the problem that in the HyperText Markup Language 5 beta, you can see the Dominion Tower from the Wizard's Tower. The world would still be tiny, just more detailed. So I think what people are asking for is a bigger world , not a larger scale as such.

I think Jon Stryder's ideas are quite good on where this is most needed, combined with the thing Taga**lo said. The feeling of exploring, getting lost to some degree and all that. We could definitely use some more land and stop pushing the areas we already have to it's limits. Part of the

ik they aren't going to but I think it could genuinely make rs look much nicer.

A bigger, more busy (less w's) imo would be awesome. I think it'd make more ppl want to play.

Isn't it possible for them to do it in steps? The biggest thing I want is them just increasing the space between cities. And I think it'd be possible for Jagex if they do it in batches. Like they start out with Lumbridge, the forest around it bigger, longer road to Varrock etc.

Things like eagle peak and het desert are big enough already, so they wouldnt need to be done.

If you think about that for a moment, you might figure out why they cannot make an area in the middle of the map such as Lumbridge bigger, without having to also make the surrounding areas bigger.

I agree doing it in steps is probably the way to go, but the first step would have to be enlarging the entire map by separating out the different areas and filling in the gaps with generic 'filler' content. The subsequent steps would be to look at each of these areas in turn and develop the area and surrounding generic content into something more fitting to the location.

Fantastic Ideas Jon Stryder. I despise how the river Lum looks, also the main bridge in Lumbridge from which Lumbridge gets its name, I feel like the river should be grand and the bridge even grander.

To be honest most rivers in the game are quite weak... As well as Mountains not being very tall, I mean most towers are taller than our mountains, that seems weird.
