Fourthly, I have just completed the 2018 poll and the question "What do you think we should prioritise in 2019?" has 9% of players saying quests, which is the second highest on the list as of writing this post. This is a very positive sign :) .

Actually that's a problem why Jagex can't be making a lot of quests. There is no clear cut favorite content according to the voting - nothing is higher than 10%.

Under that scenario, Jagex is more inclined to distribute their work hours on different areas instead of just quests so we are set to get skilling content, ED, quests among many other areas.

I don't see 10 quests a year and they should not make 10 quests a year just because 9% of the voters picked Quests.

As someone mentioned a long while back, all of the game needs attention, nothing should be shunned. If you are thinking that I'm purely wanting Jagex to create QUESTS, QUESTS, QUESTS all of the time, then you are not correct. I believe that everything needs a reasonable amount of attention.

However, 4 quests in 2018, with Pieces of Hate being the only lengthy one, is simply not putting enough time and attention to quests.

Different players have different standards on what is a "reasonable amount of attention". For most MMORPGs, there are hardly any quests of Runescape's quality, let alone 4 quests per year.

Perhaps Jagex think 4-6 quests a year is reasonable. That's what we saw the last few years. I can't read their minds but based on their comments and publicly revealed actions on their company-wise strategies, they are making reusable tools and staying away from one off content... and don't forget that's for all their games now and in the future, not just RS3.

Unfortunately quests have very little re-usable values... so players better hope for quality over quantity.

Jagex announced at runefest there won't be content of any kind next year

$11

I think you mean soon-to-be $15.

Seriously though, M&S and Mobile are eating up waaay too much dev time. And while M&S will presumably be released this coming Monday, we still don't have an ETA for Mobile... RS can't survive much more of this. Even the XP fiends will eventually leave once they've accumulated their desired XP goals. We need direction again.

Maybe the Mining and Smithing Rework and RuneScape Mobile should have been worked on separately to avoid the game halting. The problem is, the rest of the game is suffering for 2 major updates...

Rejoice! One of the two is finally here... Hopefully, this changes things for the better.

It seems a little strange to say that they would think 4 quests for 2018 is reasonable when we consider previous years. Reusable content never used to be an issue all those years ago, so, it's bizarre that it has become an issue now.

I hope so mate! I'm actually quite impressed with the rework! What do you think of it? This is a positive start and hopefully, this trend will carry on throughout 2019 :) ! RuneScape definitely needs a year of well-thought-out updates, as I feel it's been struggling with a massive backlog for the past couple of years.

I was already 99/99 before the update, so I don't have a big stake in this either way. In any case, it was a little complicated at first, but much more interactive than it used to be, which is a plus. They'll eventually need to update WC, Fletching, Crafting, RC, maybe even Fishing and Cooking, in the same way, albeit in this distant, distant future. Heck, if we get Mobile soon, I wouldn't mind if they started working on the other skills as early as mid-2020, even. We just need more new, fun content in the game before such an undertaking.

To answer your question, though: decent. I thought I wouldn't like it, but it grew on me. Still, I don't like that S gives disproportionate XP to M. Thought that would change with the rework, but guess not... Also, Imcando grind, here I come. Yay.

They took the lore from quests and added them to ED story modes and live events. Essentially, these are the traditional quests in most MMORPG like WoW, FF, etc.

As for why they don't like one off content, I think they said players asked and voted for it.

That makes sense and I do agree that they will probably have to do reworks to quite a lot of the other skills as well! I think the disproportion between Smithing xp and Mining xp is a bit bizarre also.

Yeah, I have to grind for the Imcando Pickaxe too. R.I.P me haha!

quests in 2k19 pls

Definitely would be nice, after only 4 quests last year and only 1 of them being long. I think a bit more love into quests this year is needed :) .
