No. Broken Home is a Permanent quest to the game but seasonal quests are like the Christmas Event Quest series.

This year's Christmas quest is a permanent quest; they already confirmed this.

Last year's "Ghost Stories of Gielinor" was another potentially permanent addition stemming from a seasonal event, but the players voted to remove it rather than keep it.

This Christmas there will be no poll. They don't want to make a quest which is super-Christmassy and wouldn't survive a poll to keep it, so they decided in advance that they *are* keeping this year's Christmas quest, but won't be making it super-Christmassy so that the people who voted "Ghost Stories of Gielinor" out for being seasonal content which doesn't fit all year round, don't complain for that reason at least.

So what that means is we'll now have complaints that the Christmas quest isn't Christmassy, therefore there is no Christmas event or quest this year and Jagex is being lazy....

Yes, I didn't notice Jagex has already decided this year's "Christmas" quest would be permanent already, until somebody pointed it out.

Well, this probably shows Jagex is staying away from popularity contests on minor content, and this may not be a bad thing.

BTW, last year's "Christmas" content wasn't "Christmassy" at all anyway. They had no Christmas event in December.

Hi everyone,

I've returned from a break from the game and just read all these replies on this forum post. Firstly, I wanted to say thank you very much to everyone for all your support.

Secondly, I have noticed two quests have come out since I've been away. As much as this was surprising to me; this still leaves us with a very disappointing total of 4 quests for the entire year of 2018, the lowest quest content for a year yet, so, I still see this forum subject as an ongoing problem.

Thirdly, if any of you have seen the latest RuneScape YouTube video: RuneScape in 2019 - an introduction, you may have heard something about quests within there at about 4:47 until 4:55. Some "under the hood" changes to help make quest-developing easier in the future. Hopefully, this will be a way to address the "Lack of New Quests" problem that Jagex have been experiencing.

Until that update is introduced, however, we still need to focus on making Jagex aware that we're still not happy with the lack of quests, just like we have been doing on this forum.

Fourthly, I have just completed the 2018 poll and the question "What do you think we should prioritise in 2019?" has 9% of players saying quests, which is the second highest on the list as of writing this post. This is a very positive sign :) .

Finally, I hope you've all had a great Christmas and will have a wonderful 2019, regardless of whether the quest content improves!! :P

Thanks again, everybody!

We used to get anything between 10 and 20 quests a year, most of which were of high quality, and diverse in terms of gameplay (combat, puzzles, etc.), difficulty and narrative (standalone, existing series, new series etc.). Now we've been getting only a handful per year for the past five years.

I blame the Gowers' leaving, the new team structure in the office, the focus on mtx, Slayer and afk content rather than actually fun stuff, and Evil Bob.
Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

Jagex announced at runefest there won't be content of any kind next year

$11

I think you mean soon-to-be $15.

Seriously though, M&S and Mobile are eating up waaay too much dev time. And while M&S will presumably be released this coming Monday, we still don't have an ETA for Mobile... RS can't survive much more of this. Even the XP fiends will eventually leave once they've accumulated their desired XP goals. We need direction again.

Maybe the Mining and Smithing Rework and RuneScape Mobile should have been worked on separately to avoid the game halting. The problem is, the rest of the game is suffering for 2 major updates...

Actually that's a problem why Jagex can't be making a lot of quests. There is no clear cut favorite content according to the voting - nothing is higher than 10%.

Under that scenario, Jagex is more inclined to distribute their work hours on different areas instead of just quests so we are set to get skilling content, ED, quests among many other areas.

I don't see 10 quests a year and they should not make 10 quests a year just because 9% of the voters picked Quests.
