This might help to explain a little bit what's going on here (or allegedly going on)

It seems that Plutos Sama still haven't given up though.

Pluto Sama is still going after the Fukong and the couple of people they put in Jagex before 2020, but everybody else is off the case already, of course Carlyle Group included.

Sure, but the point is if they win. I know it's an if not a when. But if they win (and they might) they're going to want massive compensation. That might have to come from Jagex if they can't get it from elsewhere.

That's surely going to complicate the sales process if Carlyle try to push it through before next June. Any new buyers (if the auction is permitted) won't want their new purchase to be saddled with a sudden and enormous unexpected debt / drain of resources.

There may have to be some type of annulment clause put in place for this eventuality. Pluto Sama might even insist Jagex is handed over to them in lieu of payment if the award is steep enough.

At the end of the day though, I'm sure most RS players just want to know Jagex have a stable future. We don't know that and it's worrying. Even if the sale does go ahead you seem to be more worried about Carlyle than Jagex.

You don't know the "Jagex" they mentioned in the RICO lawsuit was actually Hongtou Network, the empty shell holding company. All assets of Jagex have been sold to Carlyle Group in January 2021, and in May 2021, Plutoma Sama completely surrendered to Carlyle Group.

No the date on the link I gave was December 2021. That's later than your dates. It still seems to be Jagex they're targeting in court (either for compensation or ownership).

Your link mentioned nothing about Carlyle Group, the actual owner of all the assets of Jagex.

@Dilbert2001. It's up to the courts (well it's a jury trial) to decide who owns Jagex. Carlyle cannot sell something it might not own that's why the UK has placed a ban on sales. Morgan Stanley can do jack shit until the ban is lifted.

"A small update on the RuneScape lawsuit because we’re not going to see anything for a long time to come. We’re still watching the pre-trial arguments going back and forth between the parties in the lawsuit over the sale of Jagex and claims that it violates various laws including RICO statutes. Jagex is still a defendant in the lawsuit although The Carlyle Group and a few other defendants have long since been terminated from the lawsuit.

The bad news is that we won’t be hearing anything for a long damn time. According to court documents filed in mid-September, the trial scheduling has been put up and Jagex’s case won’t be going to trial until 2024. June 11, 2024 to be exact. That’s when the trial is set to start, assuming there isn’t a settlement or a voluntarily dismissal between now and then. The case will take 5-10 days and is a jury trial.

Plutos Sama really wants to buy Jagex."

If Carlyle didn't legally buy it, they don't legally own it, so they can't legally sell it. You are saying Carlyle owns it, obviously Plutos Sama strongly disagree.

Yes it's bizarre isn't it.... bizarre. Anyway. Deffo not worth a billion. Anyway Jagex has been busy up to all sorts in the UK haven't they. Even more bizarrely. Not looking good for them.

Carlyle Group legally bought Jagex. Pluto Sama officially dismissed all charges against them in May 9, 2021. Platinum-Fortune-LP is definitely not Carlyle Group, not Jagex.

You don't understand. Plutos Sama no longer say carlyle was part of the conspiracy but that doesn't mean they LEGALLY own jagex if there was a conspiracy.

If you or I bought a stolen car, we'd still have to give it back to the rightful owner if the authorities found out about the theft and tracked the vehicle. The fact that you or I didn't know it was stolen would not give us the right to keep it.
