It depends on who will be the next owner.

If Jagex is sold to another investment fund like Embracer, it probably will be resold again later.

If it is sold to Microsoft, Amazon Games and the likes, it will be integrated into their next generation Metaverse project and stay for the next 50 years perhaps.

If it is sold to the general public through the IPO, well, it is actually far more than one owner. I can see myself buying a share of it with maybe $12.5?

No doubt the Saudi's will buy it, they seem to be buying everything else these days lol.

Much love

Scouse - They failed to get Salah and decided to rain sand down on England.

Actually a possibly. Financial Times also mentioned Saudi wealth fund-owned Savvy Games Group in their report:

"Earlier this year the Saudi wealth fund-owned Savvy Games Group acquired US-based games developer Scopely for $4.9bn in the kingdom’s latest gaming investment."

Coincidentally, Savvy announced their plan to invest $38 billion just near the end of last year:

"Announcing its investment strategy, Savvy claims it has earmarked SAR 50bn (~£12bn) for the acquisition and development of a leading game publisher, which it says will become a strategic development partner.

A further SAR 70bn (~£17bn) will see Savvy make a series of minority stake investments in ‘key companies’ that support Savvy’s game development agenda. Meanwhile, SAR 20bn (~£4.8bn) will be invested into mature industry partners in order to add value and expertise to Savvy’s portfolio.

Finally, an additional SAR 2bn (~£0.49bn) is to be set aside for ‘diversified investments in industry disruptors’ to grow early-stage games and esports companies."

Oh, but that may be bad news to many Jagex players as Savvy is heavily into MTX games - mobile, high stake e-sports etc.

Another interesting thought is if Blizzard or MSFT buys Jagex, they may just disband some teams with no future roles and no systems and IP values, and redirect the resources and investment from that unit to their own game.

This happened when Blizzard bought Proletariat and instantly shut down its operation and put all the 100+ developers on their Dragonflight project.

From the court cases that have come to light it doesn't look like Jagex is going to get sold to anyone until it's decided who actually owns it. I noticed that's the one thread you didn't post in today...

One needs to read Court document before they can even discuss Court cases. The lawsuit is not filed against Carlyle Group, which has already been granted ownership of Jagex since early 2021. They can go after the couple of former Chinese employees Fukong put in Jagex, but they have no bearing with the Jagex and definitely not Carlyle Group.

It is like police could arrest the Jmod who stole from players, but it wouldn't affect Jagex, Carlyle Group at all.

Try again, I edited some out because it's a long list (RICO):

#11) 21 DAY Summons Issued re Amended Complaint/Petition #9 as to Defendant(s) Carlyle Group, ... , Jagex Limited, ...

Now here's the kicker:

(#13) NOTICE OF LIEN filed by Creditor Torsten Maehle.

Whoops, nothing is getting sold until that is resolved.

You failed to realize Carlyle Group was removed from the Defendant Lists. Your information was severely outdated.

"Jagex is still a defendant in the lawsuit although The Carlyle Group and a few other defendants have long since been terminated from the lawsuit."

I saw that, but it's not what the court docket is showing. Carlyle wasn't amongst the initial defendants when it was filed in January. They got added to that in February along with some others. The lien was added in March. My guess is they didn't pay attention to the dates and just went by order listed, which in this case is most recent to oldest.

Regardless, as of this moment the court records show that A) both Carlyle and Jagex are defendants, and B) there is a lien preventing sale.
