If someone could tell me what his plan was, if I dropped my stuff... I would appreciate it.

I don't know, but you were smart not to drop your items. You should never drop anything on the floor if you don't want to lose it. There is never a good reason to drop your items, period.

Hello everyone, this is Riven Mikase. Of course, as always there are always going to be that one player that is going to do whatever it takes to either get your money or even your account.
I have notice a few of these happening recently. A new off Runescape scam, where the player will claim to give you money after entering upon his Youtube Channel link. I must advise you that this is a scam, not only to your account, but to your identity as well. The link there is a virus and can potentially shut down your entire security.

In addition to this, there has been these doubling money scams for the longest time. If you see a player saying these things, advise others to not trade them. Even if someone says they are legit, truly they are not. They are most likely that person's friend helping another friend out and sharing the cut with them.

In Game Item Selling. This has been around since my time of starting. Two players involved in this where one says he is buying an item significantly over priced, as another one on the opposite side of the room is selling those very items over priced, making it so they can merchant at an ease.

Finally. Wilderness. You should never take anything out there you are not prepared to lose. Even if it is with a friend, chances are that friend can always turn their back on you. If it sounds fishy, believe me it is.

Thank you.

Hmm... Looks like I haven't updated the guide for a while. I'm planning to update the whole thing sometime in November though :)

Thanks Bionicles, I have referred people here a few times now. :) Great guide and looking forward to the updates.

I've reread the guide since I last posted in 2012. I particularly like the examples of reportable text.

One scam you might consider adding, I'll call it the GE Limit scam.

The scammer tells you he's hit his GE limit and needs help buying a random uncommon item. He will try to convince you that the item is worth a lot of money by giving you one to sell in the GE and showing you that it sells for a lot. (The scammer is actually buying the item from you in the GE.)

The scammer asks for your help in buying a lot more of the item at extremely high prices. Once you have bought these items in the GE (from the scammer), he logs out.

To avoid this scam, don't buy items for people if you don't know what the fair market value of the item is. The GE is probably the single best invention for preventing scamming in the game, but it doesn't work so well for low volume items.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
also never buy any item from another player if you dont have any idea about that item REAL value.

EDIT. few post earlier riven mikase mentioned youtube channel scam. i have seen this many times on grand exchange lately.
