I have heard a report of someone atempting to do the lottery scam. If anybody witnesses that, i suggest that you don't sign up and immediatly report the player for scamming as this is more often than not a scam. Remember, if you're unsure, you can submit a report once as Jagex looks at every report before making a decision.

why would people trust someone more on a game than in real life?
thats just dumb, there aren't any consequences for them online, its simple; don't trust people as much as you should and scamming will be solved
plus, just think..if someone asks you to trade them your weapon/armor and they say "oh, its just so i can see the stats" or something along those lines and you actually give it to them, thats your fault entirely, if you do something such as that, you shouldn't be playing Runescape

I have heard about that as well. And honestly, i'm not too thrilled that it is happening. Make sure you are checking EVERY trade screen carefully so you don't lose your items. My advice, if someone is rushing through trades that deal with "exspensive" items, triple check. If something doesn't seem right or you are not sure, decline the trade and keep your items safe. All in all, stay safe and have fun. :)
