Actually, now that I'm thinking of it, if any scam guide makes the "Hot forum topics" list, then awareness would be boosted. :) Hopefully some kind of "Scam prevention" guide makes it.

As usual, since this guide is now on the 10th page, I'd like to remind everyone that you should feel welcome to post any information. I will add it with your permission.

I'm currently focusing on how to make this guide better. Any tips and suggestions are welcome.

If you suggested something and I haven't added it in yet, please be patient. I need to figure out where I should add the information.

--Thanks :)

Hi Lord Smoke, I've taken a look on your thread and I would like to use some of the information. Either as reference or material posted on my guide. I will give credit when needed ;)

Go on ahead with your guide as well, it may not have to be as extensive as mine, but it still helps spread the awareness of scams. :)

Thanks

I didn't notice this scam on your guide when I flipped through, and I feel the need to point it out because I was hacked/scammed for the first time in 7 years yesterday.

This guy was advertising his youtube channel in the G.E. On it, he had a video of an "I'm Quitting Runescape" giveaway type of deal. We saw his inventory of 500m, torva top, and torva bottom, and he said one would go to each person. We just had to post on his runescape forum thread. "HE PROVIDED THE LINK".

I was aware that it could have been a scam, I'm not an idiot. The link didn't match up directly with runescape's. But when I clicked on it, I saw the same webpage as runescape, and as a "test" I even clicked on the home page and everything to make sure it functioned properly. Everything seemed to check out. I logged on to the "forums" and sure enough, 5 minutes later, I couldn't log back on to runescape.

I guess I got what was coming to me...expecting a scam and getting scammed anyways. I guess I don't need my bandos anyway and now its a nice donation to a pretty rotten person, but now I can focus on skiling :P Hope I helped. ^_^

Poor Yorick - I'm sorry that that has happened to you. That would be part of website scams in my guide. Although, due to space conflict, I may be unable to add the information. I will try to find another spot in my guide to add the information to. Thank you for the information. :)

This isnt an ingame scam but I just got one of these today. You get an email saying someone has sent you a Runescape video. The one I got was "how to get back a banned account". It takes you to a spoof login screen. Delete, report, or ignore. Keeping the world safe since 2008! ;)

Yeah, poor yorick, the same thing almost happened to me. I found my self on a site looking exactly like runescape.*** from a youtube video, and I was about to login, but then I realized that I just logged in a few minutes ago. I looked up at the url and indeed it was a fake site.
