I'm not sure whether or not this has been mentioned previously in this thread -- I only gave the guide a quick read through -- scammers are now prolonging trades/scams.
Basically, from my point of view, they are prolonging the trade so that when the player reports them the 60 second time period for you to report them is up, leaving half of the evidence gone.

I don't know if reporting someone goes beyond the last 60 seconds of your chat/trade history, or whatever, I just thought this was worth mentioning in case it is actually an issue.

I'm sorry if this is hard to understand, I kind of wrote it in a rush.

I like it how freely the guide is written. ;)
I have already read it in 2011, but I went over it again, hehe.

Gambling and Scamming can be found pretty easily, as long as you are critic to every thing someone says. ;)
Divine embrace,
Haruna

@ Gwaeken - "Why don't you have the latest scam up here which also has a glitch involved. Player offers to sell you a christmas tree hat. The new item from xmas 2012. You like the price and offer the money. Player declines trade and somehow keeps all the money you offered."

It's probably a similar scam to a trade-lend scam. However, if it is an actual bug, it probably won't be posted up on here. :(

I don't know if this has been posted or not but there was this guy earlier just out of nowhere pmed and said hello and asked me if i wanna make 3-4m by helping him with a youtube vid and i said yes then he asked if we could meet up so we met up at varrock square and told me the story of this vid that he is making and he said that its all about him getting his full sara armor and showing me how he did it. So he asked if I had a falador lodstone and he asked what lodstones do I have and i said i have draynor so he told me to teleport there but just before i did i banked all of my items because i caught on with this trick of his. So after that, I put on my green d'hide armor and went to draynor and while we were there i asked him if we were going to to the wilderness and said no and told me that most of his vids take place at the red portal so we went there and later on he asked why i wasn't wearing my rune armor because if i wore it his vid would look more convincing so i lied and told him that i gave all of it to a friend and he bought it so i then asked if he were scamming me or not and he told me that there would be no point in scamming me for my rune armor and he had a point and then asked a trade with me and showed me his full saradomin armor and the 4m he offered to me to as payment for helping me make the vid with him so then we went in the red portal and told me that he would start the video and say hello to youtube and i did and he told me that he was really having bad lags so he hopes *hat no crash would happen and bam after a few seconds he logged out and nevere returned. I didn't bother reporting him because I didn't lose anything. I asked for his youtube account btw and the first one he gave didn't appear and the second one did but i don't really trust him so i decided on posting my experience on this thread.

Ebess2 - They were probably going to Player-Kill you in the red portal. Asking for clarification on what they're going to do usually alerts them that you're suspicious. Although, I recommend that you just ignore the player and leave if you ever feel suspicious that they're going to scam you. This is so that you don't waste your time and also so that you don't end up getting scammed in the end because of some sly method they have. (Red portal scams are one of the most dangerous ones out there because any level player can attack you).

I don't recommend asking for a user's YouTube account either. The account there is for their own use and they don't need to share it and may not want to share it, or they may lie.

Overall, it's best to just ignore them and skill or socialize with friends, or return to what you're doing before they interrupted you ;)

All about the Doubling Money Scam

The Doubling Money Scam is used to steal a player's item, or large amounts of gold pieces.

Most commonly found at the Grand Exchange and all free-to-Play Banks.

The Doubling Money Trick works by gaining a user's trust. Once you test it out with 5k, or an amount of your choice, they gain your trust by giving you the amount. Once you fork over that 200k, they log out and you don't get your money back. These Scammers will usually double small amounts of money, or the first amount you offer.

Can you make a profit in this scam: Mostly, no. Many users are entised by this trick, because the more money you give, the more money you think you get. This is the wrong theory though, as once you get to a satisfying amount, you will find that they logged out.

There is absolutely no cash generator, even if they claim to have one!

You know, people misjudge this one. Sometimes it is real, sometimes it is a scam. You just take their money, take it to an "infinite source of items" such as buying stews from seer's pub. They pay you double and keep the rest. But the best way around this is to buy it yourself.
