Perhaps, Freddie, you could pen a ditty on the disappointment ... utter soul-destroying realisation that one's God has feet of clay .... that descends upon one like a murder of crows when one realises that the much vaunted fast food that has been sampled after so long an agonising wait turns out, actually, to be total shite?

My greasy stringy little lumps of Parson's nose chicken experience is one instance, as is 'Rugis burger bête noire.

I almost nearly had a Subway on a trip to America but looking at the shocking state the component parts were housed in awaiting purchase, I stayed hungry by choice.

The best and most definitely fastest fast food I ever had was a stirfry magicked up by some ancient old guy at a vegetable market somewhere in China. He had a wok balanced on a tiny gas burner mounted on the parcel carrier on the back of his bicycle.

There were no clowns present, and for that I am grateful.

I just couldn't figure out the disconnect between expectation and reality. I vividly remember staring at the picture on the menu and the actual burger in front of me. Trying to make sense of it all. The image and the physical reality technically matched. Yes. Technically. There was the middle bun, the cheese was in the right place, there were indeed two meat patties. Some lettuce looking stuff. Check. Double checked.

But it was so small! And sort of wilted looking. How could anyone possibly call this a BIG Mac? It tasted like nothing. Except the pickle. I remember that. Ewww.
