Paragons of the Light

Having studied theology in his vacant time as a clerical scholastic while serving the White Knights, Brother Rowan is no stranger to numerous lines from the holy scriptures and modes of spiritual meditation. For him, it is his interest in divine interaction that outweighed even his interest in combat... or at least on par with his martial skills.

The most favourite passage of all is this: "Saradomin's light is strongest in the dark."; indeed, this line shall motivate his fellow brothers and sisters as they go battle the ensuing chaos of the moment. This line was the focal point of one reflection by Brother Rowan one day in Al Kharid.

Chaos indeed has ravaged the land. The undead of the north has made humanity cower in fear and cry for help. I understand that a number of you feel the same concern; where is the faith in you? Why feel worried and afraid in the turbulence of the present?

Thou shalt not be afraid, my brothers and sisters in Saradomin! If He is with us, why shall we cower? What shall conquer us then? For as the holy scriptures say, "Saradomin's light is strongest in the dark." So, why fear the dread of the present when we shall be as radiant as the light that vanquishes the evil?

Thou art the champions of the holy radiance! Thou art the beacon of hope that the realm of Gielinor needs at this moment. Thou art the call of the helpless and the distressed! Thou art the greatest apostles of Saradomin, He who blesseth thee despite our unworthiness! Rise up with faith and may the radiant power of Order and Wisdom guide thee as we live our lives. It is indeed in the light of Saradomin that enables us to proclaim his word in these dark times.

So, brothers and sisters, go forth and make the paths bright; Saradomin is with us and we are together fighting the darkness that covers this world now! Saradomin wills it.

Glory be to Saradomin forever!

A couple of days later, a quick-footed scout of the Aegis of Saradomin arrived at the Al Kharid chapter house. The scout, her name was Marcia, was called in by Brother Rowan for an important task that is of great importance and urgency.

"Scout, I put my trust in you for this task. I would like to ask you if you can deliver this letter to the Grand Elder of the Kingdom of Isafdar in Prifddinas. This letter you are about to deliver is of high importance for our Order; I entrust you to fulfill this task for me and I pray for your safety."

"I will, Brother Rowan. The letter shall be delivered right away." With haste, Marcia set foot for the elven city. It would take a day for her to arrive there and deliver the message.

By the next morning, hopefully, the letter has been acknowledged by the council.

Staring at the notes in front of him, Rnoy sighed. The room was dimly lit, the occassional crackle of the furnace or echoes from deeper within the dungeon would pierce the silence. Since everyone else had been busy with the efforts in the wilderness, and the villagers of Daemonheim felt his presence slightly unnerving, Rnoy decided to delve into the dungeons below, hearing tales of great research potential, aswell as the possibility of artifacts.

A possibility Rnoy wasn't going to let go to pass. Now there he stood, with several bits and bobs layed out from his daily scavaging, which included unique bits of armour that he had yet to see on the surface. Magical in appearance, yet powers unbeknownst to him yet.

Mayhap after the undead menace was taken care of, he could have his dwarven smiths take a gander and incorperate some elemental alloys within the attire as they repaired it; even if it was a tad primative looking, it could have it's uses.

A rough cough behind him made him jump from his thoughts. Spinning around, he stared at the smuggler, who seemed to have taken up residence down here many years ago.

"Are ye going to take this or what? My arms are getting tired." Rnoy's gaze dropped to the bundle of supplies that the mage had asked for several minutes prior. "Oh yes, sorry about that." The man would grunt and hand over the bundle. "Just as long as ye ain't having none of those undead thoughts again... Don't want to have to make a mess outta ye."

He offered the smuggler a half grin, which didn't quite reach his eyes. "No worries, haven't had those in a few days now." Liar. He would set the supplies to the side. "What ye need all this fo' anyway?" "Research, all research." "Ye spellflingers are a weird sort.." The brute would slip away into the depths of the dungeon. You don't even know the half of it...

Close Encounters

The frigid waves lapped calmly round the Crystal Harmony as the great ship glided through the swirling fog. Admiral Snow Dusken stood on deck at the bow of the ship, lost in his thoughts.

Uneasy thoughts.

They were halfway through their patrol of the waters north of Daemonheim, ordered in light of the recent… events… in the Wilderness. The gloomy sky was hiding the sun as well as it had for the last three days and the air was bitingly cold. So cold, in fact, that the sea itself had frozen out to half a mile from the coast. And now, they were mired in this unnaturally thick bank of fog which had come rolling out of the north to envelop them.

It was eerily quiet save for the lapping of the waves and the creak of the ship. The mists seemed to absorb sound, as if the gods had thrown a murky blanket over the whole world. Only metres behind him, Snow could hear his crew going about their tasks, but the noises seemed to be deadened, or coming from a long way away. Faint voices, muffled clanks of metal tools, and dull thuds of heavy equipment. He turned to observe them hurry through the gloom; mist-wreathed shadows, huddled against the cruel cold that only Snow seemed to be capable of enduring.

Not cruel – refreshing , Snow thought, stretching out his hands to accept the familiar embrace of the cold, a rare smile forming on his face. But what is that … his face slowly twisted into a frown as a shape formed in the fog to starboard. The shape shifted, and resolved into the dark silhouette of a ship. Tattered sails hung from a crooked mast, and the vessel appeared deserted.

It wasn’t. Snow felt a presence reaching into his mind from the ghost ship. Sifting through his thoughts, his experiences, his knowledge. At least, those he had gained since being plucked from the seas with no memory over a year ago. Somewhere near here , he would’ve thought, if he could think under the mental barrage.

You’ve done well.

Come back to us.

Further down the deck, his crew had noticed the potential threat. The shouting, clang and clatter of frenzied battle preparations suddenly cut through the freezing fog. “Sir!” his first officer ran up, stumbling on the slippery deck. “Ready to fire on your comm-”

“NO!” Snow bellowed, gripping the guard rail, knuckles white. The officer fell back, shocked that his commander was, for once, passing up the opportunity to blow something out of the water. The outburst snapped Snow out of his reverie. “It’s abandoned you fool,” the admiral spat. “How about we take the cost of the ammunition out of your wages?”

Mollified, the sailor grimaced and strode back down the deck, barking “stand down!” Snow, shaken and utterly disoriented, shifted his gaze to the mystery ship as it completed its pass and was swallowed up by the fog. Not today , he thought.

Not today .

" Sir, we have just received a letter from one of Admiral Dusken's ships. The one that have been patrolling the seas just west of here ."
Xul would look up from one of his books with a curios look on his face.
Interesting . He would think to himself. They have not been out on seas for too long .
After reading the letter his curios face was turned into a discouraged one. Due to the restrictions on the Daemonheim castle, Xul had no one but the wall to let out his frustration on.
"Alphachan, Oozy and now Snow. How come there is only more questions and no answer after every expedition we send out." His mind was physically exhausted after hours of reading ancient scrolls from the castle, and the fact that Xul had spent much time preparing and building Daemonheim's defenses did not help either.

That whole night Xul thought of one thing. He had to enter the wilderness himself. With the power of Korangar and Daemonheim in his blood, he was invincible- unstoppable. However, this thought had also cost him during the war Varrock, so precautions were necessary.

The morning after was a boring one. The sky was gray and the wind was blowing softly from the northeast. Foreigners from all the corners of the world, currently stationed at Daemonheim were not happy about the harsh climate, it appeared, but Xul enjoyed it. It reminded him of Neitiznot and home. However, today's adventure would appear to be on far colder than any men could handle. After settling out from the west-coast of Daemonheim, the cold climate immanently seemed to drop to even colder temperatures. Xul and his crew, consisting of ten good men from Daemonheim, had decided to take a more southern route than the one Snow Dusken and his ship had taken. They did not want to clash with the ghost ship drifting around.
Ok good luck

After a while the crew reached the coast of the wilderness. The men were heavily reduced by the cold temperature, and all of them were surprised to see flakes of ice on the water this far south. Two of the men were so reduced that it was decided that they would stay behind and watch the ship, and trying to regain their strength.

For the others, the journey into the wilderness started. Information about events and scouting parties was in the back of the mind of Xul, as they traveled into the wilderness. It did not take long before it happened.
Without a notice, a dense fog came from the north, and the temperature dropped to such a low level that even the thickest of coat would matter not. The party was trying to see through the incoming fog, but they could see nothing. Instead, they would hear the steps of what felt like thousands of steps walking, marching stepping towards them.
*DONK, DONK*.

" We can't overextend now! Back off !" Xul yelled, as he gasped for air after opening his mouth. No one could see anything. The dense fog and the steps became louder.
Xul sent a purple blast in the direction of the fog, before the crew turned and ran towards their arrival location.
" Where are they!? " The two men staying behind were not around.
" We can't wait. The dead have them now, or whatever that is. " Xul said, nodding towards the fog. "If we stay here, all of us will join them, we got to leave!"
It felt terrible leaving behind two good men, who were probably dead anyway, but everyone agreed on Xul's decision, especially as they saw the water freezing slowly.
With all the remaining strength, the small group returned safely to Daemonheim, where the burning campfire in the village gave warmth like a million suns to the exhausted and terrified warriors...
Ok good luck
