"However, even with this bump in active users the daily visitor count is still only 75% of what it was 1 year ago."
^
O_o Does that mean it's the same people logging on more often?

Edit: Oh wait, daily visitors... that's like hits, isn't it? I'm still not confident enough that I'm right though. Grah, I'm a Computing Student... I should know this. >_<

I miss my avatar... is that a stupid thing to become a member for? :P

I assume Eum means page hits, but he could mean unique visitors per day. Either way I'm curious where he gets such current information.

And I would attribute a depressing percentage of the spike to a tidal wave of bots. I was trying to train Thieving not long ago, and you know what spot was overrun? The Sorceresses Garden! There's at least 20 bots there running back and forth getting herbs for their owners of all levels, dropping lower value ones at the spawn. They tend to pile up and move with exact synchronization, which is how I knew they were bots...

I'm sure flax, essence, and f2p worlds are 10x worse...

I know it's slightly off topic, but can I get your opinions on something? I've had a go at deciphering some of the Chaos Elemental's latest letter...

"Gold to half magnesium, at oxygen, half sodium,
Carbon monoxide, sulphur, half manganese. I see
Carbon, hydrogen, a oxygen, half scandium
Argon, molybdenum, you are half antimony"

So all the substances here are elements, with element symbols. Replacing these elements with their symbols gives me...

Au to (m or g), at o, (n or a) c o s (m or n) I see c h a o (s or c) ar mo you are (s or b)

Swapping a few of the one syllable words for their letter sounds gives me even better results. I've got

Automaton, cosmic, chaos, armours

W*kipedia tells me automatons are self operating machines. Chaos and Cosmic armours would follow a certain trend. I smell elemental workshop 4...

I want your thoughts!!!

EDIT: Further investigation leads me to notice that Moshort Karma contains both the words Marmos and Thok. Given the rest of the paragraph, it seems that we're gonna get a quest set in the Daemonheim
Again, I want your thoughts

My art's in the Official RuneScape collection on Deviant Art. :D

Bots are back in all their glory, then? :(

I'll have to read the postbag in a bit then, me thinks. :)

AU to (M/G) at O (N/A) CO S (M/N).
I see C H A O (S/C) AR MO you are (S/B).

The problem I see with your translation is that you're using the non periodic letters differently... see = C, you = U and are = R... but your using TO and AT just like that. Although the fact you get four completely readable words is probably too much of a coincidence if that's not it...

I'm going to try and find some anagrams just using the periodic letters...

Have we gotten any particularly interesting hints from the Chaos Ele this time? Seems like he only doles out stuff that doesn't make sense until after said content has been released, which is no fun.

Also - I started "Do No Evil"; it's way fun, and rather old-fashioned in terms of design. Gives you very little direction. Honestly, it's refreshing, after breezing through Prisoner of Glouphrie.

Something about Daemonheim, as Slayer said.

"Moonlit shores" and "spells for all who help her" could be a new Lunar Quest.

Automaton, Cosmic, Chaos and Armours. Imagine having robotic pets! It could also be combining Rune Mechanics and the Elemental Workshop. I think they said that Rune Mechanics would be going somewhere... and we did just learn how to make automatons (although, they were sentient, which isn't what an automaton generally is). Cosmic and Chaos do definitely seem Elemental Workshop related, and the clue is very similar to the EW3 clue... but automaton is the interesting bit. :P

The pirate section could allude to the next in the Pirate series... "In a fact'ry o' b..." could mean the rum factory on Braindeath Island.

I'm not sure. But I think the community events are worth while. I think it's quite a good tactic for distracting players from the actual content being released, and since they've started it during a period of quite high actual content it might not be noticed when it's being used as a cover. :)

Daily visitors means unique visitors, and the data comes from Alexa, the biggest and best site when it comes to measuring internet traffic.

The highs we've been seeing in active user count are almost definitely bots, as unique visitors is still trending towards new lows.

On the other hand, it does seem like Jagex is banning bots at an impressive rate.

Anywho, it doesn't really matter to me anymore. I just play Minecraft. :)

@ Carnage and 3mpty

If you're interested in my opinion on seasonal content... I HATE it. With a passion

Why?

1. As you've already pointed out, seasonal content is a cover for a lack of real content being released. And its not working on me...

2. Why the heck are JaGex dedicating time and resources to something which only stays in the game for a couple of weeks? In the same amount of time, they could make something that would stay forever. Thus, we have a wasted opportunity of a new quest or a new area every time seasonal content is released. And with so many lacking/incomplete areas of the game, (Eg Terrible minigames like Gnomeball or areas like Menaphos and Sophenem), the time should really really be put to use there, rather than on making new things that don't even last

3. They're "forcing" people to become members. I put it in inverted commas because ultimately, the choice is still yours. But the Hati event (which I don't believe will be the last of it's kind), kinda pushes you into becoming a member, making you think "ZOMG MUST BECOME MEMBER NOW, MUST NOT WAIT OR I IS GONNA MISS AWESOOOOME OPPORTUNITY FOR PAWS". And thats not fair, particularly when the Mods keep on claiming they're supportive and caring towards the non member community

So yeah. Hate them. In my opinion, we should have small Halloween, Easter, and Christmas events (no large scale, time consuming work though, eg making a whole house for the Grim Reaper) and have nothing else - no thanksgiving or anything daft like that. And when stuff like wildywyrms and hati are introduced, keep them - don't make all JaGex's hard work disappear.

Grr.
