There is a difference in being called a shit clan, or your people suck, to harassment. I have found if real harassment is happening, as long as you report it in game, and if it on forums, each and every-time it happens. That jagex will indeed deal with it.

As leaders we deal with trolls, and I am not talking about simple trolling here, trolling is part of the game and any actual online game you play. Is trolling right, no, but welcome to the society we belong to.

But harassment and online bullying is far different from trolling.

I know of many cases where Jagex has stepped in when the issue is serious and quiet happily swung a hammer at them.

If jagex didnt deal with people due to not wanting to loose the customers paying, all the bug abusers they caught over the past 5 years and there has been some big busts wouldn't get banned, and they also do do major bot busting as well. You just got to look at the social media for how many people cry they got banned for breaking rules.

This is in reality is like real life, there is no crime free in the world is there, or hate crimes, or bullying in school and work places. It will never be perfect, stop smashing jagex for not being perfect, there is only so much they can do.

Maybe if people stopped reporting simple trolls and only reported the real issues of harassment they would have more time.

Yes they do what they can given the resources they have, and as I said the issues I have seen dealt with proves to me they take it very seriously.

Youre only looking at social media where its advertised, its advertised on thier so people think the system works but in reality thats only a handfull of people.

read my post again its a lot more detailed research than just whats been said on social media.

.......They dont do enough the only reason you think that is because youre basing your opinions on what they want to show you on social media, thats why Jagex uses it so they can advertise, show and say what is convenient for them, were as those who have first hand experience have noticed otherwise.

Thats no to mention the severity of those punishments isnt enough to deter repeat offending.

Perhaps under estimating just how many people actually break the rules.

But as it stands here atm from this small sample, they ddint deal with the specific case i witnessed involving clan members and they didnt deal with lisa's or andras' either, and YES it was far far worse than just simple trolling.

I wasn't basing my opinion on just social media that was a example, we are all basing our opinions on personal dealings and what we see, but looking at the many forms of the way rs players communicate, forums, social media outlets and in game. They get caught doing the wrong thing they get banned, what more severity do you want?

How the muting system works, the length of bans. I describe this earlier in the thread.

For starters mutes should be mutes, they shouldnt allow ppl to use quickchat, they should also be longer than 24 hours, a 24 hour mute shouldnt exist. People who get muted find it funny instead of a punishment. As for botting ive seen ppl get just a months ban again completely unacceptable.

"they get banned" is a very vague term.

So if 24hr mutes should exist, Im guessing the clan mutes everyone wants shouldn't exist either?

I mean a 24hour mute allows people to cool off and calm down, is that the reason for it, a perm mute or forum ban is due to people not learning to cool down and stop their behavior.

I know people who have had their accounts permanently banned for botting, and I know people who have lost forum rights and access to being able to talk in game.

But there needs to be levels of discipline, its like saying anyone who ever breaks a law needs life... doesn't make sense like that does it.

Clan muting and game muting are completely different things lol

The levels of discipline are too low and they are purposely too low in order not to lose customers but it hurts the game in the long run because people do get off too lightly and carry on doing it.

24 hour mutes are pointless especially with quick chat as an option which is also pointless.

I don't know if anyone has asked but....

If there were say stricter consequences for this type of harassment, what's to stop people from getting revenge that way and simply lying to the report system?

Overall like everyone else has said, all you can do is ignore or report, if enough people report someone as well, chance are greater someone will notice.

In my clan, there weren't many people who were kicked, however even though these people were certifiably insane, and they did cause some damage or disruption, my clanmates simply shook it off, or fired it right back. No it's not right to have someone spamming lies or telling you to kill yourself, but honestly....All these people are just butthurt 12 year olds, I'm certain people in your clan can shake off the lies.

While I don't support this as I myself have had loads of supports from Jagex against these trolls, I do feel the term "disruptive behaviour" needs to be more defined as I personally feel harassment against a clan should be considered as disruptive behaviour, to an individual Jagex Moderator though disruptive behaviour could be using terms that could be considered sexist, racist etc... Agreed but we need to define the difference between banter and harassment.

Gl with this, suggested this in this thread and got slaughtered. But at the same time was made aware of the wonderful options we do have atm, of which i was completely unaware (report and ignore)

Suggested an alternative in this thread and got called "one who discriminates"
